Updates and Rumours from around the League

Re: Trade Updates and Rumours from around the League

They are actually younger than I thought.
haha

Staois and Conroy are the only real old guys.

I dunno, that many guys 30 and over, didn't make the playoffs and also have one of the worst prospect pools in the league, IMO. Not a good combination.

Re: Trade Updates and Rumours from around the League

Hemsky is ****ing awesome. He is a legit front line player, who skates and handles the puck and is explosive like Mogilny, just is a top notch set up man instead of goal scorer.

Only 4 years older than Ryan.

Him and Kessel would be so damn exiting to watch.

Hemsky's great.....but he is four years older, needs to be resigned in two years, has played over 80 games only once in 7 NHL seasons, and is two inches and 30 pounds smaller than Ryan.

I'd love to get Hemsky.........but I'd take Ryan over him all day, every day.

Re: Trade Updates and Rumours from around the League

Hemsky is everything mentioned above but he is notorious for hanging onto the puck way to long.

and never shoots.
I remember going to a pre-season game last year when Hemsky and Horcoff (I think) were on a 2 on 1... the defensemen ignored Hemsky and went to cover Horcoff.....this gave Hemsky a break away.... he still tried to pass the puck.

Re: Trade Updates and Rumours from around the League

According to multiple sources, free agent centre Eric Belanger has a one-year deal in waiting to return to the Washington Capitals. The contract is believed to be a slight raise over the $1.75-million he made last season, to $1.85-million.

What's interesting is that he has been told not to announce where he's going, leading to Belanger telling the French language newspaper Le Soleil on Wednesday that he is about to sign but can't say where due to the fact the team he's headed to is working on a trade.

Washington apparently does not want to announce they've signed Belanger in order to help first complete another deal, potentially to move out a forward and bring in a defenceman. I'm told that one player the Caps are looking to trade is 26-year-old Tomas Fleishmann, who had 23 goals and 51 points in a bit of a breakout season last year and signed a one-year, $2.6-million deal this summer.

The one trade the hockey world is expecting in the next few days, meanwhile, is that of Leafs defenceman Tomas Kaberle, whose no-trade clause comes back into effect on Monday. While Washington was rumoured interested in him in the past, Leafs GM Brian Burke said they are not one of the 10 teams that have enquired about Kaberle's availability.

"We are not in discussions with the Capitals about Tomas Kaberle," Burke said. "Not once."

Re: Trade Updates and Rumours from around the League

I only feel one of two scenarios are truly likely.....

1) He's not moved.

2) He's moved for a package that isn't near what we believe Kaberle to be worth (Clowe + 1st type deal)

At this point, I'll be genuinely shocked if Kaberle's traded in a deal that makes most of us happy.

Re: Trade Updates and Rumours from around the League

Again, if all it was was a serviceable 2nd line forward and a draft pick...if that was truly the best Burke could get...IMO the deal would have been done long ago.

Could you elaborate a bit on that?

It seems like you're saying that if the best offer Burke could get was a 2nd liner and a pick, he'd of made the deal already.....instead of waiting for offers to get better?
