OT: American Politics

Well Jays you must be mistaken because clearly the red squiggly line is higher than the blue squiggly line, so therefore Romney, who his own party doesn't even want, is obviously going to win the Presidency.

How can you argue with the squiggly line graph?

It's not like Obama has got shit done or anything. Or like he inherited the biggest mess in history.

Let me help your whining.....

SECRET STOCK TIP: Buy shares in Kleenex. NOW!

I watch and discern polls daily, Obama has an edge on Romney but it sure isn't 53-42. Anyway.....it's much too early to put much stock in opinion polls that swing from week to week. Wait till Sept.

this means zeke's morality flows entirely from HIM, and him alone. he as an individual gets to act according to ethics and norms entirely of HIS making, as judged by HIM, based only on HIS experience, and apart from anyone else or any other social unit or societal code of morals or ethics.

it isn't "reductionist", it's an accurate description of the crux of his beliefs as he has outlined them here.

he stands for nothing except for what HE determines is moral and no one or nothing else gets to define that. this is narcissism. this is modern selfishness and arrogance.

This is reality, maturity, intelligence, and assuming responsibility.

And many geniuses and philosphers have given us the key to guiding truly moral thinking - not some silly set of abstract rules to try and fit all our infinite experiences, but a simple, relative aprroach to morality which demands that we assess and determine the morality of all our specific actions according to the situation. Jesus, one of these brilliant men, gave a pretty damn good go at it: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Not a perfect morality, but pretty damn good.

Meanwhile you are stuck with your unrealistic, childlsh, irresponsible "Daddy tells me so" book of thousands of years old rules dreamt up by savage early human civilizations in order to consolidate their power.

grow up, kb, and take on the burden of thinking for yourself.

What am I whining about exactly?

I don't give a shit who wins the Presidency of a country I don't live in.

You idiots already elected W twice. Or once...

Nothing you do surprises me.

yeah, why? are you going to try to build some stupid straw man argument that i'm entirely anti-science, think we were better off in every respect 2000 years ago, and that progress of any kind is bad? because that would be a dumb argument.

That's what you're arguing.

The fact of the matter is that we've progressed greatly as a species and the great hallmarks of Western civilization in the past few centuries are entirely the product of throwing off the previously established religious yoke of societies. The Enlightenment ideals and Scientific Revolution resulted in a society where the appeal to rational thought and reason trumped the unthinking appeal to faith, which in turn led to greater freedoms for all. Religion and the theocracy of the Roman Church has only sought in the years since to roll back those measures of progress at every opportunity.

It is, but I'm hoping for continues rise. It will boost the American economy because Crappywood will create a HUGE demand for containers to move to Cuba. To say nothing of the Kleenex sales in here. :smilielol5:

Some of you have to start re-polishing you "I hate Americans" crap......

Too bad. So sad.

I hope you're ready for the patented "Rasmussen Reverse" the week prior to the election.

It caught you by surprise the last time. Don't let him fool you twice.

the swing state polls are the only ones that matter.

and the guys who put their money where their mouths are on Intrade certainly know that those swing state polls indicate.

When the community organizer bites the political dust, are you going to be okay zeke? Do I have to have a bus load of crack whores ready to help you?

if polls were to show, say a 10 pt lead for either candidate at this point, sure that would be cause for concern and tissue sales could boom.

Do you really believe that he won't be re-elected? :lol

I'm not particularly enamoured in any way with Obama (he's been a disappointment in many respects), but he sure as hell isn't going to be taken out by the Mormon Wonderkind.

You realize you were saying the exact same thing last election based on the same Rasmussen polls, don't you?

As long as the slide is constant. Then a jump for Rubio as VP will seal the deal.

Watch this thread closely...and watch for signs of desperation. :smilielol5:

http://realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/2012_elections_electoral_college_map.html

253 solid or leaning Obama.

170 solid or leaning Romney.

115 toss ups.

The "toss-up" states:

FL (29): Obama +0.5 (RCP AVG)
OH (18): Obama +4.6
NC (15): Obama +2.4
VA (13): Obama +3.2
AZ (11): Romney +4.2
MS (10): Romney +4.0 (made my own average out of the only 3 polls from 2012)
CO (9): Obama +6.5 (made my own average out of the only 2 polls from 2012)
IW (6): Obama +4.0
NH (4): Obama +3.5

Romney needs the vast majority of these to go his way to win the election (like 100 of 115), but it doesn't look like he has much of a chance of that.

This is why, of course, Intrade is at 60% for Obama's re-election at the moment.
