Either way its a waste of money. Campaigns have turned into something pretty ridiculous. Its all attack adds and PR missions. Save the money and just have a bunch of debates where you can actually talk about issues and your platform and stop treating the electorate like they are a bunch of idiots.
No argument from me on the waste of money. But then, elections are all about money - and that's the core problem to begin with.
As for the electorate, they ARE a bunch of idiots, for the most part. One moron I was talking to recently is still holding on to the "Obama is not an American" bullshit, and refuses to accept both the forms of birth certificates he released. "He's a Muslim!" he insists. "So where was he really born, then?" I ask. He calls his adult son over and puts the question to him. His son says, "I don't know... Al Qaeda?"
**** me... I never knew Al Qaeda was a country, until now.
They watch Faux News religiously. The elder thinks that Bill O'Reilly is the smartest news person on the planet.
Faux News popularity proves that if you bullshit and word drop often enough, the people will drink it up. And they have.
