The New Division

Anyone who bets on a point total is a sucker. NHL has far to many injuries.

Anyone who gives ~20 points away on a player's previous pace is also a sucker. One of the reason achieving high point totals in the NHL is so difficult, is the durability factor. As I like to remind Sens fans, 5 years ago Mike Green was ridiculous offensively, better than Karlsson.

Karlsson controls the game to a far greater degree than Green ever did. His impact is not just on the score sheet.

Looks like Cowen will sign 4 years approx 12 M...commence the "that's way too much money, he's crap" symphony.

You need him pretty desperately. Seems alright to me. It'd be funny if Nonis ended up getting Franson for the $2 million he's trying for though.

I'm telling you, it was a calculated risk that could work out beautifully for us. Both Kadri and Franson wanted to stay here. Having a "cap crunch" as an excuse to get them to sign for less than market value could really help us over the next couple of years. And if they perform well, they will get paid on their next contract with an inflated cap covering the difference.

Ninja.

Yeah I'm willing to bet on what Subban will do when he plays but I'm not willing to bet on potential injuries.

For all of you that have nothing to do this aft, the Habs are streaming their scrimmage game at youtube.com/canadiensmtl.

That's lovely and all, but I'm not making a pace bet, I'm making a points bet. I'm taking potential injuries into account in my estimation.

Why not just do it for a points per game pace with a minimum number of games played to make the number statistically viable. If he just plays 48 games it's not really a valid amount to determine his offensive production.

Because I was offered 60 as the minimum, which isn't even 3/4 of a full season. Not interested in that bet, again as I'm already taking the fairly courageous stance that he's going to fall well short of his 12-13 pace.

Someone wants to make me a 12-13 pace bet, sure, I'll take the under.

Cowen signed, Spezza the new C, Phillips and Neil with the A's.

Ryan coming in hot. EK and Michalek healthy.

We're winning the division.

Buckle up.

Good luck getting Spezza, Michalek, Karlsson, & Ryan to buy into the Mustache's defensive schemes that kept your patchwork roster together for 30-40 games last year.

Leafs are better and younger. Get ready to bow down to the Gardiner & Rielly era.

Yeah ok. Let me know when they actually make the NHL.
