I would never want to consider Gagner our upgraded #1 center.
If we make a trade with Edmonton, it should be for a bigger stud, seeing as to how they have several and the collection of them have done nothing to change the course of the franchise.
Give up enough, and I think we could have our pick of any of them. And I'm not even sure which of them I would want, if any, were we to give up a package of good players. RNH is injury prone and not yet showing consistent elite ability, Yakupov lacks much of a track record, Hall has his issues, Eberle is awesome but we kinda have a lot of good wingers already. Seems like we'd only part with good players to get a clear long-term upgrade at center, and not sure Edmonton is the right partner in that regard.
And Franson is a tough one. The guy is still quietly leading our dmen in points with 8 assists. But his level of play has been nowhere near that of last year, and it boggles the mind, especially when he is playing for a contract right now, after coming off an awesome season last year. But then there's the fact that he's the only right handed shot and is built like a tank. The return for him could be better than the value that he himself brings for our team, but he definitely is not redundant on our team by any means nor would he be easily replaced. Like I said, tough one.
But I think he is the most tradeable and would fetch a lot in a package.
