what i mean is Gionta as free agent can get this money even way more from more than half teams because of what he brings to team BUT as some others mentioned the problem with our team is we have too many small players . i don't find any thing wrong with Gionta 's contract and what he brings as player..

as for penalty killers it's not a hard thing to teach...most of our lineup kills penalties.

If there's one aspect of the game that is all about just good positioning and a good X' and O's it's penalty killing.

Bournival will never score 20 ! he is at best 10-12 goals player ..

Have you ever been to Grand Rapids, Michigan and seen what a shithole that is..... its far, far worse than Hamilton. So I think there are more factors here than you take into account.

Perhaps the fact they can make about 70,000 in the AHL, but 200-300,000 in Sweden?

I would rather go with a younger bigger role player than Gio even if he scores 5 goals less a year

As for the salary difference between AHL & SEL, doesn't hold, since Nyquist, Ericsson, and many other Swedes have spent upwards of 2-3 full seasons playing the AHL @ Grand Rapids, and foregoing the SEL salaries.

As I also state, maybe Illitch has found another means to "remunerate" the Euro prospects...

You're forgetting about Gio and the obvious respect he gets from his teamates and the young guys. I am not the biggest Gionta fan but I'm not sure we have someone to replace his leadership.

We haven't had a lot of swedes in our system... usually one max on a team at a time. Detroit has always had a lot of swedish players. Friendships with someone who speaks the same language could make it easier to make that transition as well.

Yes but Bergevin has maintained that he wants to get bigger through the draft, and that takes time. He'll stick with the midgets he knows until then.
 
I'd prefer Moen in over Prust if that is what Prust brings us.

Hell I'd play White over Prust right now. At least he can win a faceoff.
