#BREAKING: The SIU has identified the deceased suspect in Sunday's mass shooting on The Danforth as 29-year-old Faisal Hussain of Toronto.

Brace for shit storm.

According to his family, he has a long history of severe mental illness:

We are at a terrible loss for words but we must speak out to express our deepest condolences to the families who are now suffering on account of our son’s horrific actions.

We are utterly devastated by the incomprehensible news that our son was responsible for the senseless violence and loss of life that took place on the Danforth.

Our son had severe mental health challenges, struggling with psychosis and depression his entire life. The interventions of professionals were unsuccessful. Medications and therapy were unable to treat him. While we did our best to seek help for him throughout his life of struggle and pain, we could never imagine that this would be his devastating and destructive end.

Our hearts are in pieces for the victims and for our city as we all come to grips with this terrible tragedy. We will mourn those who were lost for the rest of our lives.

Hussain Family

Definitely incel...

Por que no los dos?

I think we might have an extremist trifecta here. An extremist muslim incel, with documented severe mental health issues.

The internet might ****ing implode, it won't know what to think or blame for this.

And just for educational purposes:

Shootings in Toronto:

2015: 288
2016: 407
2017: 395
2018: 228 YTD

2018 extrapolated over 365 days puts Toronto in the 415 range, but that ignores the higher prevalence of shootings in the summer months. Don't get me wrong, ~400 shootings a year isn't good, especially considering that the city used to be well under 200 shootings a year. But this entire line about tying this to the demise of unfettered carding (which again I have to repeat, is still allowed as long the person being interacted with is given a reason, the interaction is documented, and a receipt is provided to the person) is nonsense.

If you get to 400, it is average for the last three years. As you said, not good, but not a reason to complain about the carding issue being the reason for the rise.

It is sad to see this shit in Canada but with large cities comes crime.

We tend only to freak out when the shootings/murders come to the general population. Usually, it is just the criminals shooting each other so no one really cares. We have that where my office is located. East Indian and white gangs tend to use each other for target practice on a regular basis so few care. It only becomes an issue when an innocent bystander is offed by accident.

If we just look at pure murder rate, Toronto is one of the safest cities in the western world. Even this year (which includes an incel going loony with a rental van), Toronto is sitting in the 1.6 per 100,000 range. Brussels is 2.8, London 1.2, Stockholm 2.0, Paris 1.8, Berlin 2.2, Madrid 1.1, Amsterdam 2.1.

So yeah it's absolutely sad to see this, but Toronto is a metropolis and it's going to have metropolis problems.

+1

People tend to not give much of a shit until the gang/drug violence spills over onto the streets outside of the hood.

have another liberal beer

Beer is for pussies who only pretend to drink. Do you mind if we make that a liberal tequila instead?

With that out of the way....I wish I had another way to describe these ****ing muppets. Seriously, go on twitter and search Faisal Hussain right now.

I haven’t been on there lately but I know a lot of people where calling for more gun control, holy crap we have quite high gun control. Majority of crimes occur with illegal guns this is where the focus needs to be not law abiding gun owners.

Eww no.

Yeah, I kind of wish I hadn't. The only thing positive that I'm taking from the experience was that when you looked at the accounts doing the posting, there was a whole lot of #RollTide #MAGA #MCGA #WalkAway #Christian hashtags, references to how shit the left is in their personal descriptions, etc.

So basically American Trumpists. Not all, but a very significant percentage.

Haven’t confirmed veracity if the stat but I read yesterday that something in the neighbourhood of 95pct of guns used in the commission of an offense enter the country illegally via the US.

I generally agree, but with one caveat. "Law abiding gun owners" tend to get their guns stolen a lot. For example, in Alberta between 2013 & 2016, just in RCMP jurisdictions (Edmonton and Calgary both have their own police services, representing about half of the population of the province) there were 4500 guns stolen from "law abiding gun owners".

So if many/most illegal guns start out their lives as legally purchased and owned guns, surely ratcheting down on the availability of legal firearms (or at least stiffening storage/transport regulations to make stealing them more difficult) is part of the solution?

I completely agree that the RCMP needs to be doing everything it can to stop illegal guns from coming across the US border, but I don't know if I buy this "our regulations are enough" stuff. Tbh, I'd be entirely cool if municipalities were allowed to set some of their own restrictions. If Toronto wanted to ban legal gun ownership, I don't think I would have a problem with that.

Yeah, I'd like to see those numbers.

I can only speak for the Alberta numbers that I'm familiar with, but there are a lot of guns stolen out here. The number I keep hearing floated is 13,000 formerly registered and legally owned guns in Alberta that are currently considered lost or stolen and the whereabouts of are unknown by the police.

For a province of 4 million people, that strikes me as a lot of ****ing guns.

Are you talking about hand guns or all firearms

This must be a joke ......
If people really are so concerned with the safety of others, how about govenors in automobiles? After all, in most instances, an automobile is used in the act of an offence using a firearm.
Heck, automobiles cause or are involved in 100,000s of thousands of deaths and injuries each year in north america.
Throw a govenor in every single vehicle whether car truck or motorcycle.
Fine the auto manufacturing companies for producing illegal products ..... wtf can you go over 130 in canada.
So, i guess it is obvious that my final comment is ..... from my cold dead hands ......lol
