OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

I have to admit, for a brief moment near the start of this I kinda thought we might avoid the brutal second wave like they saw in 1918 because we know more in 2020 but now I think that was totally naive of me. I think it's going to be the same thing.

Like... we shut everything down when there was 400 cases in the entire country and now there's 400 new cases per day in Ontario and people are packing parks.

I'm afraid you're right but it's possible that the second wave turns out to be very mild.

I am cautiously pessimistic but unwilling to consider the doomsday scenario a slam dunk.

And more specifically, Toronto and gta are at its peak cases per day. Long-term care homes and the rest of Ontario propped the numbers up in the first wave. The second wave, if we can call it that, will most certainly be worse all because zeke and his hipster friends had to crowd a stupid fucking park.

Fuck you zeke.

With that said, I partially agree with ch1 that it's possible that the second wave will be worse but not catastrophic. If I recall we still had a lot of wiggle room with hospital and icu capacity. I think the bigger concern will be in the fall/winter when hospitals are generally more crowded.

Yeah, wouldn't really use the phrase "doomsday scenario" for this virus, think we're kinda lucky it's not even more deadly... but wouldn't be surprised if more people died than the first wave due to complacency.

yeah people are keen to pretend that this whole covid thing has come and gone.

happening more out east too.

gonna be a bitch of a second wave...

Im invited to a diaper party Saturday. A round of golf and some backyard beers before hand

Everyone is talking a big game about being responsible and practicing social distancing but a few of them are in the "over it" crowd. A warning shot has been sent to everyone in the chain that punches to the dick will be thrown if they break my bubble

We gave in the last couple days and have been around my parents. I usually cook 20-30 meals worth of food for family (3 pork tenderloins wrapped in bacon and 42 chicken drumsticks this week) on the smoker on sundays. They came over for a 45 min visit at the end of cooking. Today we went over and used the pool since it was 875 degrees.

That’s about as far as I’ve been willing to go so far too. I went and visited the parents on the long weekend for the first time since the lockdown started. Will probably go see them again this weekend.

But I’m still not keen to expand that to backyard BBQ’s or get-togethers with big groups of friends. Before that, I kind of wanted to see Ontario/Toronto’s numbers keep consistently coming down to go along with robust testing numbers, but it doesn’t look like that’ll be happening anytime soon.
