For clarity ... the NBA would be playing games at the small arena on Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports complex (formerly the Milk Arena, currently unsponsored thus un-named), which also houses the spring training stadium that the Braves have used for several years. There are no resort hotel attached to the complex, although Art of Animation and Pop Century resorts are up the street. I'm fairly certain that housing for players and staff would be "off property" ... I mean, there's a TON of hotel rooms in the area, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Braves moved spring training to Sarasota county last year. I guess Disney got outbid for a new stadium.

Michigan president says no on campus students, no FB. I hope he had good armed guards if that happens.

I'm sure some fans will be mad if they can't fire the coach if there is no season. Including one local guy. They have tar and feathers ready for him. I recall one time a local booster said he hoped the team lost the rest of the games so they could can the guy.

From what I've heard, the theory behind the adjusted Fall semester for State and UNC is to eliminate breaks where students typically leave campus and return. No Fall break, no Thanksgiving break. Classes start August 10th and then its a sprint to wrap up before Thanksgiving with no time off save for Labor Day. My daughter won't know how different that is as she is starting her first semester this way. It will be different for sure for anyone who is not an incoming freshman.

Everything for incoming freshman will be done online this summer, including orientation, which is another big change. My daughter might not officially set foot on the NC State campus again until move in day, which is somewhat unnerving for incoming freshman. Fortunately we live close enough that we can get over there and walk around on our own schedule once she starts to get some specifics about classes and buildings.
My son attends ECU and they’re taking a different approach. Going to block scheduling so you would (for example) have 3 classes for the first half of the semester and then two the second half of the semester.

That was supposed to be a temporary home for the Braves' spring training while another facility was being built. I guess you could still call it "temporary" ... they only stuck around for 22 years.

Disney's focus for that facility shifted to youth and development programs about 5 years ago. The Braves' spring training was about the only thing left from the old days when ESPN first took over that complex and hosted college basketball tournaments and lots of other made for cable events.

Carolina Beach was packed over the weekend. Probably other beaches too. As George Carlin said think how dumb the average person is and half of people are even dumber.

I was at Carolina Beach. For the most part, the groups kept 6’ apart, at least at the south end. Not a lot of people in the water, it was cold and red flags both Saturday and Sunday.

I can't stay home 100%. I have to get groceries and other items. So the more it's spread around it's worse for everyone not just me. I work at home full time before the virus so I'm lucky. I'm certainly very sick of many places being closed but nothing I can do about it.

I have really minimized my footprint. I filled my tank up on 3/13/20 when I returned from a trip to SC. I still have half a tank in my car. I work from home, but I have run to the grocery, pharmacy, vet and to do take out 2x. I work from home so this is not new to me, but I do do remember the initial adjustment after years of having worked most of my time in an office with others.

I did go and get a haircut yesterday-- I was the first appt on Monday when the salon had been closed on Sunday. My stylist had the required protocols in place, sanitized everything after use and had also installed a dry hydrogen peroxide system that works 24/7-- hospitals, doctors' offices, Chik-Fil-A's have them to help sanitize the air/environment-- works in concert with the A/C. We were the only ones in the salon and I was in and out in 45 minutes. This early in the re-opening, the time of the appt, and the limited number of folks that had been in/out since re-opening on Saturday, made me feel this was likely the best window for a cut. I hope I'm still OK with this decision in 14 days...

The Miami Dolphins are converting Hard Rock Stadium into a drive in theater that can accommodate 230 vehicles. They’ll show classic Dolphins games, movies, etc. Reatrooms will be open and food and beverages can be ordered via an app and delivered to the vehicle.

That's an awfully big facility for 230 cars. I mean, it sounds like the kind of thing you'll actually remember doing "during the pandemic" years from now when all of this is a bad, hazy memory ... so, good on 'em. No way they're making any money with that volume, so I'm guessing this is more of a goodwill thing.

I mean, unless you live on a farm and had the foresight to plant in such a way as to diversify your garden and other crops for long term sustenance there isn't ANYONE who's 100% isolated for any significant length of time. The issue has always been how to get necessities such as food an medicine distributed while minimizing the spread of infection. I think what we saw over the Memorial Day weekend was the natural result of closing down so much social activity for such a long period of time. I don't think it had as much to do with politics and public health policy as it had to do with human nature.

I am OK with people doing whatever they want unless it is negative to me. And don't abuse people or animals. Want to marry a tree? Go right ahead. Go ahead and smoke pot. Living in a cave is fine. And so on . All these people getting together could be a problem for me . As I said I am diabetic and over 50.

I called my barber as soon as they announced a reopening last week and appointments were booked solid for 3-4 weeks out and I could not get hair appointments for my son and I until June 16th...I have made a valiant effort to mildly trim my own hair and my sons with the clippers over the past 3 months but I am in dire need of a "real" haircut!

I’m getting a haircut tomorrow. My wife’s hairdresser re-opened and she texted my wife with options for moving up her June 20 appointment. For the last 2 years, she’s been cutting my hair while my wife’s color processes. She owns the shop, it’s in a converted house and she rents out rooms to others. So each hairdresser has a separate space with a door. We can’t enter through the main entrance, we have to call her when we arrive so she can open the back door for us.
