OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

Small GTA based pharma company approved for FDA phase 3 clinical trials this morning. Not a vaccine but a treatment aimed at helping the lungs not get damaged from the disease

They don't test there. Government was pulling for the herd immunity method but masks and obedience and cleanliness from the people kind of slowed the spread. Cases were likely far higher than reported before but it's an interesting case study on masks. It could have been so much worse. They didn't shut down anything.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s government launched a national travel campaign on July 22 that aimed to revive a battered tourism industry despite a resurgence in coronavirus cases.

A member of the World Health Organization’s influenza panel said the campaign was ill-timed, and it has created a dilemma for those who fear the spread of the virus but are in desperate need of business.

In truth they've dealt with it worse than the US. But the japanese aren't absolute morons. They wear masks, they're clean and they're respectful. That goes a long way.

Hopefully it doesnt get too out of control now though. That's a seriously old population.

Yeah, the Japanese were socially distant way before it was cool

they are great about wearing masks and respecting the needs of others but it's actually impossible to physically distance while you're there

Everyone know that this is the illuminati seizing more power. They released the virus to drive the middle class into bankruptcy so that they can take an even bigger piece of the pie.

Teeds told me so.

They tend to use 'paper money' alot more than credit cards/debit cards. Not sure the reason (fear of fraud and/or debt maybe?). But here's an example of how fastidious they are:

("money laundering" lol).

yeah...it's weird. the country in many ways is completely digital, but behind the times when it comes to credit cards.

Relaxed rules/attitudes are blowing up everywhere. UK, France, Germany, Canada.

Public health officials have not adequately explained what “Phase 3” really means.

Yeah, it's this weird mix of "everything is open now" but also some limits. I still feel weird when I like go into pickup takeout from a restaurant and see people dining inside.

A lot of people think we've proceeded cautiously all along, and that if restaurants are allowed to open for dine-in that it must be government-approved and relatively safe. Which is all true and our numbers are pretty low, but we can't let our guard down.

Most people are wearing masks inside, the message has gotten through to a large extent. The problem with bars & restaurants is that it's rather difficult to eat or drink while wearing a mask. Tough situation for restaurant owners, but there's no chance I'll be doing dine-in anytime soon.
