Around the League 2019-2025 Edition

i do think it's strange that mtl keeps signing wingers.

they need centers, both upgrades and better depth.

wut?

they're not going to find better pivots then Suzuki, Dano and KK on the open market.

Jake Evans handled 4th line duty pretty well last yr and they have Leaf killer Ryan Poehling waiting in the wings.

I wouldn’t mind another center on the taxi squad but yeah they have their centers. People just don’t think they’re good enough.

I don't see a John Tavares type currently listed on the 750K market. But there's still two weeks before the season starts....

I draw the line there.

Anyway I told you, I don’t hate the Habs. I’d like to see a good Habs team at the same time that the Leafs are good. I’m just not a fan of your squad and I think Bergy is horrendous.

I’m no Bergevin fan either.

I do think this upcoming season will be interesting though. I don’t see his vision of a contender but they should be fun to watch.

Yeah, I don't think they're even within screaming distance of being a contender. Their system play is strong but it's very middling talent wise, everywhere. Suzuki is a legit breakout candidate and could make a fairly anemic top 6 more dangerous if he's ready to be a consistent 50-60+ point guy. JK I'm less convinced on for this year given how shit his season was last year in addition to hardly lighting Liiga on fire in his 10 games there so far. Questioning his offensive upside is starting to get more and more reasonable imo. The pre draft Kopitar comparisons have definitely died a painful death in the last 12 months.

on the blueline...well...Romanov better be good out of the box and Weber/Petry had better stay healthy. I don't think much of the pile of #5-6 guys they have behind those two.

Kok is a bust, I’m quite sure. By bust I mean maybe third liner, maybe fourth liner. But because of his draft position, huge bust.

Suzuki has looked good, so I expect him to improve. And what I saw from Romanov at the WJC last time was impressive so I’m expecting him to be good.

But the rest of the roster, come on. It’s like when we thought we were a contender with Grabovski as a first line center. Just not gonna happen.
