and jack's not the answer. he's been out of position swimming on 4 of the past 6 goals, and that last goal was just garbage. the fact that his eyes reacted to the shot but the rest of his body didn't was... telling.

i guess rielly's been good?

they brought in joe thornton to teach the team how to never get over the hump.
 
yeah Campbell is nothing more than an okay goaltender. I know what his numbers are, and he's been better than late-model Fred, but you look at the quality of shots that beat him....how much he gets caught swimming out of the net...long term, I don't think he's going to prove to be the answer. I think he'll get exposed more next season when 3 of the top teams in hockey re-enter our division.

but it's not his fault he's not Carey Price. we won't be able to blame goaltending this time around.

This is all on Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner. God knows they've been praised enough for their regular seasons, and rightfully so...but they're soldifying a rep as postseason shrinking violets. I don't see any getting around it. These guys have earned the rep now.

And no amount of packing your roster with leaders and gudpros can fix that. As we're finding out.

I disagree, it's not unlike Brodie's goal, even if deflected shots are coming too fast to make an adjustment once committed. But i agree it looked bad in real time.
