That Hyman report is full bs.
I hear his subs aren't bad.Legit think Zeke has a Sergio Momesso jersey or memorabilia
Why is this still controversial? We gave up hallander and a 2023 7th to ensure we had a middle 6 C/W after the expansion draft. If McCann made it through the expansion draft the price would be higher to acquire him.

For the 1st time in a decade the right side of our D wasnt a mix of unplayable garbage and broken geriatrics, so i can see the appeal of holl being kept. Keep the top 2 pairs of a team that was good defensively intact. It’s controversial because:
A) Some people believe that we’d be better served protecting McCann than Holl. (I don’t personally subscribe to this view, but I can see the argument).
B) Some of us believe Kerfoot needs to go, so both deciding that we should keep him if possible and trading assets to try and protect him from the expansion draft is compound stupidity.
Feel free to disagree if you like, but this isn’t the no-brainer move you’re portraying it to be.
Leafs think Holl as the RHD on the matchup pair signed for $2.0mx2 is more valuable than McCann.
That's it that's all.
I love Mikheyev, but man, he cannot finish to save his life anymore. So frustrating.
Fair. I disagree, but fair.
The drop off from Holl to Dermott/Sandin/Timmy/Bogo/etc is a lot less steep than the drop off from McCann to Kerfoot/Engvall/Mikky/Simmonds.
Given that we just managed to muster 6 goals in 3 straight elimination games and become pretty offensively inept if Matthews isn't going, I think we need to be very concerned about the quality of our next set of forwards behind the top 4 if we want to go deep.
I mean, if we compare ourselves to the current 2x Cup champion, where's the talent gap:
Hedman-McDonagh-Cernak-Sergachev
Rielly-Muzzin-Brodie-Dermott/Sandin
Or here:
Palat-Point-Kucherov
Killorn-Cirelli-Stamkos
Goodrow-Gourde-Coleman
XXXXXX-Matthews-Marner
XXXXXX-Tavares-Nylander
Engvall-Kerfoot-Mikky
It's going to take a hell of a set of XXXXX's there to come close to making up for how much better that Tampa 3rd line was.
Despite the dollar investment, I just don't think our forward group is good enough. Our blueline, even with Holl, is though.
You can still move kerfoot after the expansion draft (market will likely be better as teams dont need to make protection decision). I would also like to reallocate his 3.5M cap hit. If they take mccann and then trade kerfoot for more value than hallander and 7th will you still be upset?
Let's be real tho - none of us got excited by hearing about McCann until we saw his shiny charts.
That's what the shiny charts or for tho....
Didn't we hire the nerd specifically because he was combo platter of shiny chart mastery and long drives to random ass rinks in northern ontario to drink bad coffee out of styrofoam cups and know which 15 yr olds were under valued?
Is robertson ready for one of those xxxxxx slots on the top 6? Thats what we really need so we can go after another medium sized fish for the other one. McCann or Kerfoot are 3rd line wingers i hope
Sorry I thought this board lolled at xgf now my mistake.
That nerd put together the 2nd shiniest team chart in the league this year.
When have I ever lolled at xgf?
Recognizing that it's only part of the battle isn't lolling at it. There's nothing wrong with breaking down and analyzing the roster's constituent parts to look for flaws and areas of improvement. I agree with the importance in running out a roster that is strong analytically, absolutely. But it still needs to perform when under duress and it just hasn't.
Right now the team is obviously (especially with Hyman's departure) weak on at LW and weak on the 3rd line. It's very strong on the blueline both in quality and depth, and obscenely strong at 1-2C & 1-2RW.
Borrowing from the strength of one aspect of the club (blueline depth) to address another major area of need (Top 6LW or 3C, take your pick) would be prudent.
