OT: Movies/TV Shows

Watched the series finale of The Expanse last night. All things considered, they did a decent job of wrapping things up.

But beyond disappointing that not only did Amazon choose to stop the show when there’s 3+ books of material left to go, but they limited the final season to just six episodes.

Interesting that, even with how drastically the run time was cut down by the studio for the final season, the show runners still dedicated a chunk of each episode to teasing a plot line that had no impact on the story this season, but is a major part of the narrative going forward in the part of the story that as of right now, isn’t going to be told.

The expectation has apparently always been that someone else will pick up the rights and do either a movie or a few more seasons on another platform.

Because yeah, Amazon made a weird decision to cut bait on one of their most popular shows.

I haven't seen the last couple episodes, but I assume it left off just before the books went into their big time jump. So I kind of assume they didn't want to age up the current cast by 30 years for the series. My guess is it ends up being like Firefly, where they do a standalone movie for the "sequel".

Sounds like a lost opportunity to replace people.

I'm in season 3 and I still think their worst casting decision is Holden. Which isn't the one you want to miss on.

It wasn't you. Dallas was dreadful. I mean LoF loved it, need I say more?
It was so dreadful, it was the number #1 show for years. Larry Hagman the highest paid actor. Invented the cliffhanger season finale. Spun off into other successful shows, and a successful reboot decades later until Hagman died mid-series.

When I started watching it in reruns, I expected it to be crap, because I was probably dumb like you back then, but after giving it a few episodes, it revealed itself to be an amazing, well-written, well-acted, and compelling show that got better and better as it went.

Maybe it's because you're semi-french that you have no taste.

It sure was popular... In a time when humankind was hell bent on destroying themselves and the planet.

Know the audience. I was just ahead of the curve. It sucked.

The A-Team was also #1 dude. Murica. At least they blew shit up every episode.

The A-Team ran for four seasons and disappeared until a forgettable Bradley Cooper movie which stunk.

You weren't ahead of anything. Dallas ran for 14 seasons, like 350 episodes, spun off Knots Landing which had 350 episodes of its own, then was rebooted again itself with the original cast decades later. Over 30 seasons of television. It was immensely popular because the entire planet loved it. I think the Who Shot JR episode is still the second most watched show of all time.

And seeing as to how you thought it sucked, you probably didn't even watch it, so I'm discussing this with someone who knows as much about the show as the Habs do about winning a game this year.
