The Fucking Season Thread - Redemption Tour '22

I agree the could use a center. Spezza's line is kinda struggling with him at center. IMO the weaknesses on this team are, in order:

goalie...........................................................................................2nd line LW (maybe Robertson fills that) and another center.

But thats literally it, so if they blow all their limited cap space on Carson Soucy it would be a shame.

- His goal was an EN in an already 4-1 game
- 1 of his apples was on an EN in an already 3-0 game
- 2 of his remaining 4 apples were secondary (in fairness, one of them was a pretty slick pass to AG who set up Willy)
- Only Thornton & Galchenyuk had worse xGF/60 among our forwards

2 primary non EN points in 7 games. And whatever, it's Kerfoot, we shouldn't expect much more from him than secondary assists and meh analytics. Given the situation, I'll take it. But this idea that he stepped up huge to provide offence in the playoffs is a bad one.

To be fair to Kerfoot, he played well. He was peak Kerfoot in that series and did as good as we could have hoped given the circumstances. But yeah, he rode shotgun on a Willy heater.
 
Kerf was very good in that series. He's at least a guy who skates and can carry the puck and do some shit when everyone else is standing still. But he's not the guy you want stepping in as 2C if Tavares or Matty gets hurt.

so then we don't need a 3rd top-6 center, because Willy is so good.

EN points are the reason Hyman is one of the richest men in Edmonton right now.

Please don't disparage this extremely important skill of getting points when there is no goalie in the net.
 
Faceoff wins are nice, but producing offense is another thing. Kampf can't do that. Spezza can't really do that much, and we'd be insane to rely on him to do so. Nylander isn't really a center anymore, and if he moves over then wing become empty.

I mean, we can get by, but we're certainly significantly weakened and super vulnerable if one of the top two guys gets hurt. We just saw ourselves lose to a shitstain team last year when one of them was lost to us. A team we would've swept out had that not happened. Talk about fortunes swinging 180 degrees the other way.

We can't let it happen again. In my view, C is the top need going in. Because if you get the C, you push more talent to the wings and solve that issue indirectly, even if Robertson can't stick. We don't really need a D because Lilly and Sandin should be given a chance to swim (they won't sink), Dermott and Babushka are there too now, and if you're rolling with Muzz you just have to take him for what he is, which is unreliable and not all that good anymore. The goalie thing is a gamble either way, so stick with what you have (unless you can get a cheaper equivalent to Mrazek), and don't waste assets on a shakeup at that position.

We're in a good spot. We just have to rely on the guys to deliver what they're capable of. We're not out shopping for a 1C because Matty has to deliver. Same with G - Campbell has to deliver.
 
I'd love to hear the audio on that one.

Looks like Matty is just yelling something like "YEAHHHH" to him and making the Cunt giggle like a baby.
