TML? More like FML, amirite? Yet Another Off Season Thread

I still dont hate the JT deal but they didnt position themselves to succeed when the iron was still hot with him

Now we are on the wrong end and having to adjust to justify having him

We bet on the wrong 11 million dollar horse and never fixed our goaltending properly.

There's a bunch of luck that goes into things of course because hockey, but we've done a bad job creating our own luck.

PPG Tavares was hardly the worst overpay in the series, and the goalie battle was even steven.

What does 2 years of cheap Willy do for Zona?

Does anyone do anything for Zona at this point? They are playing in the equivalent of the west Edmonton mall

That franchise is on borrowed time. Any trades made should be taking their new home into consideration

The JT deal at the time looked like a deal that would expedite a dynasty with the cheap core built around him.

Fast forward, not even a sniff, and the cheap core is going to expire in 2 years and JT is beginning to look like an ungreat investment long term.

Someone said the ceiling now might be a WAS one off cup. That might not be untrue.

I mean fair, but i dont know what 2 years of cheap Willy does for Houston?

FYI no Bolt scored more goals than Tavares did this series, and only 2 scored more points (Hedman 1 more point, Kucherov 2 more points).

And Tavares had a goal stolen from him, no less.

You guys might have won the Cup if Keefe didn’t give ice time to Boosh, Wayne and Clifford, and maybe I don’t know, try making an in-series adjustment to the PP….

Keefe is Anglo Michel Therrien — lots of talk about violence and rispek but not many big wins.

Give him the pink slip. It’s ok Dubas… you might benefit from a new coach to talk strategy with

But he’s a huge problem.

If we keep him, we’ll have one guy who could show up and actually produce in elimination games and that would make the other players look bad.

Who had more basically goals though?

Individual expected goals:

1. Matthews 3.84
2. Point 3.11
3. Mikheyev 3.07
4. Kucherov 2.95
5. Nylander 2.67
6. Marner 2.59
7. Tavares 2.57

Of course, the goal they took away from tavares doesn't count towards this stat in any way, because the whistle went so the play never happened.

Tavares was solid and if I may say, underrated this year. My big concern though: He's 32 next year and entering year 5 of the deal. I thought we would have had much more success with him and Matthews 1-2 down the middle.
