TML? More like FML, amirite? Yet Another Off Season Thread

I dunno. That $9.5 million goalie performed well enough to beat you guys last year. I don't even care that he won 2 more rounds after that.

Vasilevskiy gets paid $9.5m. And couldn't outperform what you say isnt even a #1 goalie.

But thanks for reminding me that our not-a-#1 goalie also matched your $10.5m goalie in the first round last year, too.

It ain't trolling if it's true. And there's no salt to rub here. Saturday night is simply a thing that happened now. It's over. I'm merely trying to say that trotting out these useless stats does nothing to address the problem going forward. A stat like expected goals just sounds like a "coulda, woulda, shoulda" rationalization for failure and that's what actually needs to stop. Stats like that only serve to minimize the failure and present a case for maintaining a flawed status quo. It's the precise type of thinking that I have railed against on the Habs board for a decade. When my team doesn't perform to my standards I demand that people get fired/traded/bought out. I don't look for reasons why they should continue doing the same thing for another year.
If I do the banning its site wide. Only moderators can ban off board. You're close man. I'm seriously giving you the option to stick to the Habs board for at least a week or I gotta do it. Final warning.

I meant when looking at the overall picture. I read someone say something about 2 ~$7m players, a 2C and a 2LW. That would be better use no? Forget the Tavares aspect, looking only monetarily.
I don’t know what you’re saying exactly, but it doesn’t matter. He has a NMC, he’s been PPG the whole time he’s been here. He’s not leaving, nor should he, so there’s no bigger waste of time than trying to reimagine the roster without his salary.

Probably right. If there's tweaking it'll likely be bottom six or back end.

The Muzz move is the wildcard. Move him, maybe even get the core 5 guy in that trade, some young talented center or winger on an ELC. If not, you’ve got $6m there, $3.5m from Kerf, maybe move the Mrazek $3.8m. And then use the money to get another elite guy, not two good ones.

If they sign Sandin and Lilly for $2 mill, and Engvall for $1.5, the following lineup has $4.7 mill in cap space:

Bunting-Matthews-Marner
Kerfoot-Tavares-Nylander
Robertson-Kampf-Engvall
Abruzese

Muzzin-Brodie
Rielly-Lilly
Sandin-Holl

Mrazek

Once they move Mrazek and Kefoot they'll have $12 million for a goalie, top 6 center/winger and cheap depth.

And if that elite guy goes down?

Who is elite that's available anyway? Gaudreau? Even Forsberg is very good, not elite. Tall order no?

Yeah Vasy was not good this series. Though he was great game 7. I'd still take him for $9.5.
I don’t even think he was great in game 7. Got luck with the Tavares call back. Didn’t feel the Leafs gave him anything near the Calgary treatment last night. He was so very beatable, but we don’t like shooting on the PP, so we get the outcome from overpassing with an extra guy on the ice.

I think the leafs are going to go for a major change.

Two years left of Matthews (he is going to get big money or leave).

I would say look to move JT but that is probably very hard with his NMC.

He made some stellar saves guys. Come on now. Lightning don't win game 7 except for Vasi.

Could save another 3-3.5m in a Muzzin for Gio swap. Their d would look a little iffy if they did that so I get the hesitancy.
