TML? More like FML, amirite? Yet Another Off Season Thread

Ah, okay, I just hovered over it on the main page. Not sure why it wouldn't say that instead of NTC in '23.

In any event, I doubt the NTC is a problem if they're trading him to some other contender, which is the only type of team that would trade for him.
Not many contenders have cap space tbh. Many will need to cut, not add.

Muzzin's ntc poses the exact same size of problem as JT's nmc. The bigger problem moving them is their cap hits.

In theory yeah, but I don't think the situations are the same.

If we have Gio and the kids knocking down the door, and Muzz sees that he may be relegated to some lesser role despite his contract, with only two years left, maybe he goes. Assuming just the "we want to trade you" factor isn't enough. Tavares has nobody knocking down the door behind him, is still performing as he previously did, and probably is much more glued to staying in TO with small children and family around. Plus he left real money on the table to sign in TO, so the sacrifice factor is there with him too, that he likely won't feel it fair to even ask him.

Muzzin is from Ontario, is also married with a small child and no one's pushing Muzzin since none of the small puck movers can fill the void if he's moved.

If Dubas wants to save his job Tavares has to be moved and i couldn't give a shit about his feelings, he's never accomplished shit and has become an 11m dollar net front presence. No idea why some people are so emotionally invested in this guy.

Knew Muzz was from TO, but didn't know he had the same family situation. Naturally he could pull a Kadri and block anything Dubie tries to do, so we'll have to see how it shakes out. But I think Dubie is clearly positioning to trade him, so it will be an interesting time between now and the draft, which is when he'd almost certainly have to be dealt or otherwise likely be staying put.

Yeah, I dunno why I'm invested in Tavares. First big name superstar to leave a team and join us, and be an 80 point player in the 2C spot while here. What can I say, I like the guy.

Of course.

We win this year with a fair whistle.
The issue is we still blew it, Zeke. We are 0-6. This team has lost massive chances at reaching the cup final. Our best players need to step up in the most important games. I agree we've had terrible luck, but we've had opportunities to overcome that.

Don’t you dare start assigning blame to anyone other than D, G, and the bottom six. It will not be tolerated here, sir!

It’s too bad Dubas didn’t have the balls to pick up Evander Kane. 39pts in 43gp regular season followed by 15pts in 11gp in the playoffs. 12 goals!

Gets tiring seeing other teams take big risks and succeeding. Then us doing nothing and getting bounced round 1.

A lot of people here didn’t want him. Eat that Evander Kane crow!

It's more that that the Leafs management are invested in him than the fans that is the issue here.

Kane and DeAngelo and we’re likely still playing. Can’t be upset though because I wanted no part of them. We got woke and then promptly put to bed.

I’ve been saying all year that Matthews is the best player in hockey, but I honestly take it back now.

Until Auston puts up some video game numbers in an extended playoff run like McJesus is right now, the belt stays with Connor.

And I don’t want to hear that McDavid’s doing it against inferior opposition. Auston had two years in a row against shitty-ass first round opponents and just put up mediocre-to-OK levels of production against them.

yeah they were close during the year but the best player in the game can't be a regular season only guy. look at Huberdeau for example. 1 goal and 5 points in 10 games after a 115 point season? oof. Panthers can't be liking that much.

Matthews and Marner were two of the best players in the first round.

their line had a 65% xgf and they were both among the scoring leaders in the league.

hard to call them regular season only guys.

they didn’t go beast mode though. They had better stretches in the season.

McDavid really found another gear this year this playoff. It should be pointed out though he was rather pedestrian himself in his previous playoff appearances.

Refs screwed us. epically.

Win 1: 7pps
Win 2: 8pps
Win 3: horrifically undeserved late 2-minute 2-man advantage in 3rd period of a 1 goal clinching game
Win 4: Disallowed leafs goal in a game 7 on a call that happens all the time without any whistle, with the game/seroes winning goal allowed despite even clearer and more obvious interference.

we got screwed.

Not that I really give a crap, but what were their underlying nerd numbers in games 1-5 versus games 6-7?
