In theory yeah, but I don't think the situations are the same.
If we have Gio and the kids knocking down the door, and Muzz sees that he may be relegated to some lesser role despite his contract, with only two years left, maybe he goes. Assuming just the "we want to trade you" factor isn't enough. Tavares has nobody knocking down the door behind him, is still performing as he previously did, and probably is much more glued to staying in TO with small children and family around. Plus he left real money on the table to sign in TO, so the sacrifice factor is there with him too, that he likely won't feel it fair to even ask him.
