The value is probably right, but I bet someone beats this in name value. I guess it's where Calgary values Willy, but I'm going to bet that Willy is undervalued around the league. I'd be surprised if the Rangers couldn't put together a package that carries more name value than Willy, for example.

Willy's also two years out from UFA. Which means that they'd only be exchanging one year of Tkachuk for two years of Willy. And since they wouldn't be able to talk extension with him until the summer of 2023, they'd have no certainty that they'd be able to keep him long-term.

I'm going to go with no....if you're expecting a 100+ point player, you're going to be disappointed. Career high SH% and a sky high career OISH% juiced him large in a contract year. He's probably more a 35-85 guy going forward than 40+/100+

Still a very, very good player and brings tons of value, but not for Marner who looks like he's growing into being a consistently elite offensive producer.

Tkachuk is a RFA now. You'd be trading 2 guaranteed years of Willy for currently nothing of Tkachuk, just his rights.

That's not really true. Arbitration has been filed for, so one way or another he will be under contract for the coming season with either Calgary or with the team that acquires him from Calgary.

More importantly, who is getting Tkachuk. He's a gamer. Wonder if they'd like to be stupid and give him to us for a collection of guys we don't need plus picks and prospects. Would have to subtract Muzz and Kerf to fit him, who Calgary could flip elsewhere, and then Knies and a 1st or something like that. Would probably need to have a three-team deal in place, if we were doing anything, but I doubt we are.

yeah, big no thanks to Tkachuk.

he's a guy whose reputation is gonna demand a big package, and then he'll sign an inflated contract and start declining.
