Another option, that is fairly cheap, is google tv. Right now it is 39.99 at best buy. It seems to work fine for me.

Nvidia Shield Shield - Bestbuy is very fast, stable, however it is pricey. I have not had good luck with any android boxes off of amazon in that sub $80 range....
Habsy posted news about the Formuler box, it seems very nice. Seems to be in the Shield price range.

Yeah my original box was one of those made in China Brand X TZ95's or something. My brother is in the process of setting me up on a Fire Cube. I'll use my old one for my second TV.

Why not both? Have a 7.1.2 system attached to he same TV (AMP) that has my Nvidia Shield on it.

true, sure...for me I have a 5.1 setup as well. the 2.1 above is for music when I'm working in the other (larger) room in the daytime.
anyway I was just kidding. if I want anything TV I just torrent it. no need for extra boxes.
Mine does too but it'll be put in a room where the volume/low frequency brakes can be taken off someday. sub is on apartment mode rn.

Fronts, sides and bi directional rear speakers are Warfdale (last year they were made in england). Centre is a PSB, subs are Klipsch. Yamaha amp.

when we moved back to Halifax Mrs. Wayward insisted on buying fancy expensive (second hand) speakers. I don't know much about them other than they are really fancy (and the sound quality is excellent, in fairness). most of my interaction with them is moving them to vacuum the floor, and turning down the volume as I have significantly better hearing than the missus and intend to keep it that way...

Took one day to give me a cracked glass console. Some people just don't think.
