Hey nerds: Your streaming rigs

The firestick requires a 20 dollar add on for ethernet available at Amazon. The Fire Cube, has an ethernet port.
Oh? So there's hardware for $20 that will allow you to run an ethernet cable to the Firestick? That makes it considerably faster?

I found it to be steady. I have 5G and the ethernet attachment oddly doesn't support that speed. (I have 2 monitors with firesticks so that I can watch 2 games at a time.)
The Leafs are on the 5g wifi, and what other game I watch is on the ethernet. The IPTV/ethernet was way more stable than Sportsnet or NHL 66 or the other streams which froze. The ethernet is on 2.5 or whatever it is

The picture is crystal clear. But there is a downside....there is a delay in the broadcast of 30 seconds to a minute from the live feed.
This is interesting when my Budwiser goal lights go off before the tv shows the goal.

Streaming live sports can be a little choppy at times. I'm wondering if an ethernet line would cure that.
Choppy is the buffer. More memory less choppy. Not so sure switching to ethernet would make the difference. What speeds are you getting through wifi?

If I run a speed test on my phone I get between 200-300 down.

So is it just the fact that a Firestick doesn't have enough memory?

I find sportsnet can be a shit feed. I can have buffering issues on sportsnet and switch the the NHL center ice feed (which is using the sportnet feed) and have it be perfectly fine

You're likely to get slower speeds than that off ethernet. Especially if it's cat 5 and not 6.

Seriously don't think that's the issue at those speeds.

Up and running iptv on the firestick. Thanks folks.

Question - I see the iptv smarters app will let you add a vpn but I have no idea how to do this. Am I better off just running the NordVPN app on the firstick before I use IPTV? Or should I be setting up the VPN on this Smarters app.
