I mean come on it's Barbie. I'm not going to take it seriously just because right wing incels are histrionic.

seeing it tomorrow, but i have a feeling the fact the discussion here is "barbie movie is successful bc lead actress is hot" and "imagine if they'd had this cow play barbie instead?" pretty ironic after watching.
I said, as between Opp and Barb, I think lead actors are a big factor.

Major movie stars drive box office. Presser at 3.

Nobody spoil for me whenever or not Oppenheimer was eventually successful in his effort to develop an atomic bomb. Trying to go into that movie with a blank slate.

At least in this version they got a good actor as Oppenheimer. In the 1989 Paul Newman film they inexplicably cast "Howling Mad" Murdoch from A-Team as Oppenheimer.

Pretty sure they left the ending vague on purpose so that each viewer could interpret it for themselves.

Like the Sopranos. Did they die???

Not to ruin the joke but... they did a pretty great job of building tension here.

And unrelated, the AC was out in the theatre and it was pretty fucking hot. Everyone stuck it out.

Reality is that's an amazing box office for Oppenheimer against tough competition.

The real story is actually a Sound of Thunder's box office though.

Woke theatres trying to stop us watching oppenheimer.

Yeah, and for what it is, Opp has done well with $175M so far. Apparently the budget was $100m, double it for the marketing, and it will definitely make money, have a long life on streamers/tv, and likely do some damage at awards shows. The Nolan name is more important than any actor in the film. Modern day Spielberg who can't really go wrong.
