We were in Courtice but yeah, people seemed to enjoy it regardless.

Profit-wise the film is a crazy hit.

The film is pushing a "pay it forward" system where viewers are encouraged to buy a ticket for someone who couldn't be there with them. It's estimated that 20% of the tickets sold have been empty seats.

Basically, they know their audience and are using it's zeal to juice the numbers. Movie would still be a solid box office performer without that, but a free 20-25 millie in ticket purchases is a nice boost.

The grift must flow.
