True enough. He was insanely safe once he had his big boys locked up though for sure. Felt the most absolute garbage gudpros were more important than adding good players as the finishing touches.

But maybe he does that in Pitt too.

Petry is still a good dman and desmith is a good goalie at a very good price.

This lets them either run a Matheson-Petry pairing to soak all the toughs and do it well, to give the young guys all soft matchups, or split them and let them carry a younger guy on the top two pairs. And then solidifies the goaltending with 2 solid tandem types.

surprising that the Sharks only got a 1st and no prospects here, but hard to get much more without retention on that ridiculous contract.

this is a great move for Dubas, not only adding Hot Erik but getting rid of 2 albatross contracts.
