I do at least like the absence of stupid contrived gimmick teams in the “World Cup”. That’s a step in the right direction. But it’s still not a World Cup if you’re only inviting four countries.

And I think the NHL’s choice of countries is less about trying to piss off Russia as little as possible and moreso that they want this tournament to be purely a showcase of NHL players. So any country that can’t field a full team of NHL players doesn’t get an invite.

Shortsighted, stupid and par for the course for the NHL.

That's a team with broken ass goaltending that might blow itself up because .870 goaltending makes everything look terrible.

Ekholm has the 58% xG in the super heavy usage one would expect. Ek with 2 million retention for a 1st?

How the organization treats that is up in the air (they don't have to trade him, they can burn it to the ground and start over and just keep him as a disgruntled superstar), but he's definitely asking out when they miss this year.
