No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

And as has been mentioned, Mo plays best with Carlo types. And quite frankly, this is the first time they aimed high and got a realgud one. I have zero complaints there, as long as Rielly is on the roster. Better Carlo than boosh or Schitt.
This is the most important part. Mo has been shitfuckinass all year so if this gets him back to being mo - the value is more then just Carlo.

Carlo doesn’t necessarily have to play tough matchup minutes to be valuable. If he can deliver positive results while acting as Rielly’s babysitter, that’d be great.

He’s also important to have in the event something happens to Tanev. Remember the days when Muzzin would go down in the playoffs and we’d be proper fucked since we had nobody even remotely capable of filling his shoes?
Yup. He's relatively young and is great "Tanev's game falls apart" insurance for the next couple of years, even beyond the injury stuff.

Normally I'd be skeptical that a guy that was never that good could just jump in and play playoff hockey... But when Benoit is the other option maybe that's ok!

looks like coach is gonna stick with these two bottom 6 lines again tomorrow.

For the record, in their small/tiny samples so far, this is how the 2 combos have done:

Laughton-Domi-Jarnkrok: 18min, 35.5xgf%, 36.1gf%
Lorentz-Kampf-Holmberg: 58min, 29.8xgf%, 35.0gf%

I wonder how much rope these combos get. Only 8gms left.

unrelated, here's some other combos on the season:

Pacioretty-Holmberg-Robertson: 33min, 57.9xgf%, 100gf%
Holmberg-Domi-Robertson: 23min, 40.2xgf%, 00.0gf%

Laughton-Kampf-Lorentz: 19min, 53.9xgf%, 00.0gf%
Laughton-Domi-Robertson: 18min, 62.8xgf%, 49.5gf%

The whole team has been low event.

Since the deadline the Leafs are 9th in xGA/60 (2.27), but they are still 20th in xGf%, because they create even less offense.

yeah evolving has them finally looking respectable at 5v5 over the last 10gms (i.e. since Tanev came back). not great but at least something you can start to look at maybe having some kind of success going forward.

52.5xgf% (ranks 11th over that timespan but would rank 8th on the season)
2.57xgf/60 (ranks 18th over that timespan but would rank 15th on the season)
2.33xga/60 (ranks 8th over that timespan but would rank 7th on the season)

still not awesome, but if they can keep that up at least it's something that we can start squinting at and seeing a team that actually is good defensively, and an offense that should be pretty good given their shooting talent, especially with a PP that is starting to look really good. and you could squint a bit more and see some specific culprits dragging them down over that span - Laughton, Jarnkrok, Benoit - who we might hope we could improve on either by them getting into the groove here or maybe by them being moved down the lineup or even replaced by the likes of Robertson/Patches/Hakanpaa.

but it's only 10gms so who knows if there's anything legit in there.

Last 15 games
Stolarz starts: Florida *2, Colorado, Ottawa, LA, Philly, rangers, San Jose
Woll starts: Colorado, Vegas, Anaheim, San Jose, Nashville, Calgary, Utah, Pittsburgh

One guy has gotten the much tougher workload recently, despite splitting stars.

Stolarz leads both in every meaningful goalie statistic.

Shouldnt be a question who gets game one unless Woll is rolling on a stupid hot run into the playoffs

Team Pts% per game ranks:

Stoly: #8, #9, #10, #10, #15, #21, #27, #32
Woly: #4, #9, #16, #19, #24, #25, #30, #32

Team Goals per game ranks:

Stoly: #6, #12, #12, #13, #18, #20, #24, #30
Woly: #5, #6, #19, #22, #26, #30, #31, #32

i don't know that I'd call it "much" tougher but yeah Stolarz is getting a heavier workload.

i still don't want us to be wedded to Stolarz in the playoffs no matter what tho.
