2025 NHL UFA/Trade Thread

I want a number 2 center, Reinbacher to pan out and a solid goalie.
That's pretty much everyone's bucket/wish list. Fowler should be fine and fingers crossed with Reinbuster. The second line center down the road is probably Hage but finding an actual one for the next couple/few years until then will not be easy. I think Bennett stays in Fla. or signs with a team where he can be more of a 1C (maybe Philly), and only teams already in a rebuild or about to enter a rebuild are going to trade you a a current top six center, so I think you're looking at Lindholm, Kadri and Stamkos, and that's pretty much it, and of those three, I'd only be interested in Kadri.

Overpay Duchene , best option on the market

I would take Duchene or Granlund over any of those guys save Stamkos with retention.

Question: John Tavares turns 35 in mid-September, prior to start of 25-26 season, thus is eligible per CBA to a 1-yr 35+ bonus structured contracts w only base salary counting vs cap.

Should longer term C options not be viable this summer & Tavares will need to take hometown discount to stay in T-dot…

Offer Tavares 1-yr / $12-$14M AAV deal ($1M base + remaining bonus)?

Edit: Nevermind player has to turn 35 by June 30th per CBA

I can't imagine him playing for any other team and I wonder if a change of scenery would be good or bad for him but Ryan Nugent Hopkins wouldn't be a terrible option as a 2C if he could be had in a reasonable deal.
