I thought Carney was solid, and either well briefed or he has an odd affinity for 80s Quebec comedy. His French is poor which makes him extra awkward at times, but mostly people already know that.

PP was, by his standards, relaxed, composed and possibly even at times… pleasant? I think his best answer was when the hosts asked him if that was his real personality or if it’s the one he normally displays. He basically said that he sometimes appears that way because he came from a very modest background and had to fight for everything. Seemed like a real trial balloon to me, because normally he’d either just attack the questioner or pivot to an attack on the Liberals.

Yup, you always start with using powers that you can but probably shouldn't, to impact people who it won't be unpopular to use them on. In that thread, the quotes start with Pierre referring specifically to murderers (who most people don't care if they're buried under the jail for the rest of their lives) but then gets way more vague at the end, talking about combatting "crime"

I issue the same warnings about Poilievre that I did for Trump because Pierre is the same. The only thing he lacks that Trump doesn't is the opportunity to become a dictator. The Klownvoy was as close as he could get to a January 6th style coup attempt but he doesn't have the reach or the money that Trump has so he got nowhere. But ask anyone willing to talk about how he runs the CPC (if you can get anyone who isn't too afraid to talk, that is) It's a dictatorship. He brooks no dissent or disagreement. His word is law.
 
All Canadians should be cautious about voting in anyone who doesn’t seem interested in following longstanding norms and traditions whether it’s security clearances etc. We saw it with Trump not divesting from his companies, not divulging his tax returns. These were things everyone had followed dutifully before.

One thing you have to hand to Ford & Teneycke is that they’re infinitely better at reading the mood of the electorate and moving decisively than Poilievre & Byrne.

It was honestly brilliant the way Ford rushed in with zero hesitation to anoint himself the chief pugilist in the fight against Trump’s tariffs & annexation threats, and then immediately called a snap election and refreshed his majority mandate off the back of those efforts.

While all that while, Pierre was mostly hiding and staying quiet as a mouse in the hopes the whole thing would blow over and he wouldn’t have to go on the record speaking out against Trump.
 
Doug was telling us something there with that little quote of his, for sure. And it's exactly the gameplan that he knows put him at zero risk of not holding the majority that gm just mentioned.
