OT: American Politics

Well, a giant “fuck you” right back atcha, buddy.

Totally idiotic concept that anyone’s going to be better off—kids or parents—if people who have no interest in being parents go ahead and have them anyway.

Also idiotic to assume that having and/or raising your own kids is the only way to contribute positively to the next generation.
Ask Habsy if I should have kids. If he gives me the green light I'll consider it.
😁

I like to think I'm the same selfish prick before and after kids. Will report back.

Yeah, but before kids you didn't get to look down your nose at the childless in conversations and tell them that they can't possibly understand how you see a certain issue because they don't have kids. That's a big "selfish prick" win in of itself.

and I don't blame you for a second. It's perspective changing for sure.
Lots of good parents who know what a kid environment is vs an adult one and who don't expect people to change because a kid is in a space.

Also lots of terrible childless people as well.... yes Karen, 5pm is a perfectly fine time for a kid to be in a local neighborhood pub eating chicken fingers.

There is a terrible lack of "mind your fucking business" in society in general I find. I have zero problem with well behaved children in "adult" spaces for the most part. I do though have significant problems with parents who let their children run around and use those spaces like it's the neighbourhood fucking park because active parenting is annoying or something.

Also kids aren't allowed to be kids anymore... if people saw kids playing in a creek at 10 years old without adult supervision they would probably call the cops.

Everything has to be an organized activity

As someone raised in the 80's, I concur. My mum tells me stories now about her twitching out worried about me and sneaking out to see my buddies and I playing in a stretch of the humber river a kid had drowned in before, but leaving us to play there because it was the 80's and tempting death and dismemberment was considered a necessary part of childhood.

You either know, or you don't know

That was an "organized" activity when I was growing up. Put a hoop on the ground and toss dangerous pieces of metal in the air at it as a group.
