OT: American Politics

I don't understand this driving desire to "have babies"...beyond our natural biological imperative to breed because we are animals after all...why is having a large amount of children important specifically?

I've got two kids, quite happy with them, honestly quite pleased at the job we've done so far raising them, but I wouldn't want everybody having litters...for all we know developing reason and NOT having 7 puppies at a time are related.

Well, a giant “fuck you” right back atcha, buddy.

Totally idiotic concept that anyone’s going to be better off—kids or parents—if people who have no interest in being parents go ahead and have them anyway.

Also idiotic to assume that having and/or raising your own kids is the only way to contribute positively to the next generation.
I think it's better to have kids and if you don't have them you can't understand.

But, yeah, I believe that we should incentivize this and for those who object that it's not fair?

Fuck them.

Lots of good parents who know what a kid environment is vs an adult one and who don't expect people to change because a kid is in a space.

Also lots of terrible childless people as well.... yes Karen, 5pm is a perfectly fine time for a kid to be in a local neighborhood pub eating chicken fingers.
Kids shouldn't be in pubs at any time.

And they also shouldn't be in the bar/lounge area of a restaurant like the Keg.

And if we can get them banned from airplanes that would be awesome.

Of course, these complaints have more to do with the parents than the children themselves.

Having a kid only reinforced what I already knew: you should only have a kid if you really, really want a kid.

I do appreciate patience and understanding from non-parents. Only way to teach them how to behave in public is to take them out in public. I appreciate a sympathetic smile or nod to ease my anxiety about ruining your day while I'm getting the little gremlin in line, or alternatively, fireman carrying him out the door if needed. And fuck everything about handing them a tablet or a phone in a restaurant.

You either know, or you don't know

That was an "organized" activity when I was growing up. Put a hoop on the ground and toss dangerous pieces of metal in the air at it as a group.
I miss lawn darts.

Why should I subsidize your child raising though when we can just do shit that benefits everyone instead and let potential parents figure it out themselves?

and no...fuck you, non parents out number parents with children fucko. You don't get to dictate to us.

Also kids aren't allowed to be kids anymore... if people saw kids playing in a creek at 10 years old without adult supervision they would probably call the cops.

Everything has to be an organized activity
I've heard of CPS being called when a kid is seen walking home from school by themselves. I was doing that in Kindergarten, ffs. I lived a good 15-20 minutes walk from my school. My mom walked me there the first day so I'd know where to go. After that, I was on my own.

Remember they do turn into teenagers.
Enjoy them now but remember they do turn into teenagers.

Old saying:
A parent of teenage boys only has to worry about their sons.
A parent of teenage girls has to worry about has to worry about everybody’s teenage sons.
Yep, if you have a teenaged son, all you have to do is toss him a pack of rubbers and tell him not to use his real name.

I do though have significant problems with parents who let their children run around and use those spaces like it's the neighbourhood fucking park because active parenting is annoying or something.
Sounds pretty selfish of you

the "driving desire" at the root of it is always racial.

a fear that other races are out-babymaking ours, and thus will dominate ours eventually.

because other races are bad, you see.

Yep. If we're talking about it being good for society....well, so is sensible immigration where we bring over a bunch of people in their 20's with the type of educations we want them to have.

That has been missing from this particular rant though.

Tablets are a gift from the gods.
