OT: World Politics

That's actually a good looking, non poison pill having deal for Ukraine. Devils and details being what they are, but I don't think Trump/Bessent et all are going to out smart the Ukies, and I think Zelensky established weeks/months ago that they weren't taking a bad deal under any circumstances. This kind of smells like USMCA to me, where Trump was all bluster and ended up signing a deal that was just fucking fine for us and Mexico both when he realized neither of us were going to budge much at all.

Kind of crazy, but because Europe (specifically Germany) has kept their debt so low for so long, the EU opening up the vault and taking on some debt will be viewed very kindly by every financial entity on the planet, and they'll guzzle down as many EU bonds as they want to auction (within some reason of course). One of the major reasons the Euro hasn't already challenged the USD more as a reserve currency is that their debt market is less than half the size of the American debt market, and their money supply is 70% the size.

Yeah, if there's something there that I'm pretty comfortable with, it's that Zelensky wasn't going to sign a shit deal. All appearances so far suggest that Ukraine cut an actual functioning deal that works for them here. Every detail I see seems to be a good one for Ukraine while being strategically good for the US in the traditional, non rapey Trump admin sense.

yeah looks like the strategy of accepting the ceasefire and letting vlad show his ass entirely was a good one.

but i'm still not quite sure how his advisors sold trump on this or how trump will try to spin it.

Made a minerals deal! A great deal, the best deal! Only Trump could have done it.

That's how, and his mouth breathers will continue to inhale through their mouths.

"Things have gone from bad to worse for the main opposition leader.

Peter Dutton has not only conceded defeat in the federal election to Albanese but also in the race for his own seat of Dickson to Labor’s Ali France.

This hands Dutton the unenviable record of being the first federal opposition leader ever to lose their seat at an election.

Such a poor result in the country’s federal election will likely leave the Liberal Party searching for a new leader.

Many political analysts have pointed out that comparisons to US President Donald Trump may have damaged Dutton’s image during the election campaign."

Very similar to what happened here. Dutton had been leading all the polls before the tariffs

Dutton is Australian for Poilievre.
