2025-2026 Off Season Thread - The Rehappening

I mean whatever it is, it clearly is high risk for being chronic. He's been hurt for at least 9 months now. And surgery won't fix whatever it is. Duh, of course it may be chronic.

Or maybe it’s a disease/condition that involves a lengthy recovery… and has nothing to do with playing/not playing… just time

What part of his game has tailed off the most? That'll be your clue. Skating? Shot?

How hard would it be to say, "yeah I won't go into details but my back hasn't been feeling good all year. I'm confident rest and treatment will get me to 100% next season." Done. No more Lyme, Chron's, terminal cock cancer, etc.

But like CH said, what if it is one of those things and he doesn’t want to have the world talking about it? I want to know for sure, but I get it.

Because then people would be Shea Webering his back 24/7!!!

It’s possible it’s a disease that even German doctors can’t figure out

The Germany thing is for sure stem cell therapy since that's mostly the only reason to go there. But people do that for all sorts of ailments, sicknesses etc. So it doesn't really narrow it down!

Maybe Auston doesn’t want to go into further detail about his injury so as to not invite further questions about why in he chose to prioritize spending weeks playing in the 4-nations tournament ahead of using that time to rest up and recover for the Leafs’ playoff run.
