2025-2026 Off Season Thread - The Rehappening

Unless Vegas didn’t want to pay him his expected ask. I don’t think any competitive team would give him $14m. Maybe not even $13m or $12m. We’ve gotten too used to these numbers because we have 4 guys making over $11m. But other teams don’t want to invest so much in one guy, especially if it throws off their whole salary structure.
 
Yeah they discussed this before Theo signed surely. Exactly what was discussed around here at the time. Theo was signed for much cheaper than Marner will cost... Maybe 5-6m per year cheaper. Vegas did it right.

Because his points come in situations that are meaningless. He doesn't score important points at important junctures of important games. Any shlub can score a hat trick in Seattle on a Tuesday night in December but you need to be a fucking MAN to score important playoff goals.

Any team serious about winning only has to look at his production in any game titled 5, 6, or 7 to know he's a fraud and not worth the money.

And especially when he doesn't move the needle in games that matter.
 
$12 mill in Vegas is the equavlent of $14 mill in Toronto after taxes.

Vegas makes a bunch of sense. They'll obviously go after him.

Marner is way better than Caufield and Stankoven. Marner had more points in the playoffs than them combined in 7 less games. Plus he is elite defenively.
