New Canadian Politics Thread

Windsor to Quebec City was in his platform and Toronto to Quebec City has already been announced and the project planning is funded and started fwiw.

Oh, the shit is going to take years to build. The planning phase itself is expected to last until 2029 if memory serves.

Infrastructure like this takes a long time to build and the key is to never stop building. We took 40 years off of that though for some reason.

I would argue it seems to take longer in NA than most other places in the world. We plan and then plan and then plan. And by the time we're done planning circumstances have changed enough to require a new plan. I want to see the govs just balls up and start appropriating land and telling companies what they are going to do.

Oh we know what the reason is: cutting taxes and government spending, because Boomers.
 
Most boomers won’t benefit from tax cuts because their incomes decreased significantly (~45%) from their working years. If anything, they want the top rates to increase on the (younger) people currently in the labour force. What they don’t want is government high speed train spending to crowd out health care spending.

Netanyahu is the root cause of all this. He didn't predate anti-Semitism, but he used it and exacerbated it for his own political gain and to rationalize genocide. You cant even think about a peace process so long as he is in power. The Israelis need to first put him in prison and then negotiate a peace accord. No one trusts Bibi and there's no reason to.

Yes, antisemitism is always the fault of the Jews.

The word is already that the CPC intent is to be obstructionist against Carney. They've decided to vote against the upcoming budget site unseen.

No, not at all. I said that anti-Semites were around long before Bibi. But Bibi isn't helping, he's exacerbating. The world would be a safer place for Jews and Palestinians if he were locked up.

Just because antisemitism is bad doesn't give the Israeli government a free pass to act any way they damn well please and claim innocence. Both sides play a role in what happens and the violence is not a one way street. Never has been. Both sides play the victim while ignoring the fact that they are both also perpetrators. Neither side is covered in glory. Like I said before, this is Leafs vs Bruins. There's no good guys.

They are taking a page out of Newt Gingrich's playbook. They will simply oppose every Liberal position not because they disagree with it but simply because it was proposed by "the enemy". They have no desire to take part in governing. They merely want to oppose for the sake of opposing and, if possible, grind the nation's business to a halt.
