Because the big tech CEO’s (like Bezos) have all bent the knee to Trump and showered him with cash and support since he won the election, and have almost certainly been in Trump’s ear about not wanting to have to pay taxes like Canada’s digital services tax.

On top of that, Trump’s always eager for any lame excuse to slap more punitive measures on Canada in an attempt to wreck our economy. Out of pure spite, as well as the belief that he can use economic pressure to accomplish his annexation goal.

Seriously, this is yet another one of those times that I really, really dislike our 24 hour social media driven news environment.

So, this tax...that is more or less identical to the tax the UK has....well the UK negotiated it into their trade deal.

How much do we want to bet that we end up doing the exact same thing?

I know it's fucking difficult, but if we can not judge whether or not our government is doing a good job according to the moment to moment whims of Trump, that would be fucking great.
 
I found the dumb thing is the media doesn’t know if we used this to get something from the states as part of them coming back to the table. Impossible to know the impact of all this without being in the room.
