New Canadian Politics Thread

They are taking a page out of Newt Gingrich's playbook. They will simply oppose every Liberal position not because they disagree with it but simply because it was proposed by "the enemy". They have no desire to take part in governing. They merely want to oppose for the sake of opposing and, if possible, grind the nation's business to a halt.
The Liberals have a virtual majority with the NDP who can’t afford a non confidence motion to pass.

Let the CPC burn their hands on the stove

Haven't read the bill, probably should but my thoughts from the video

- Online privacy doesn't functionally exist. Starting from a position that it does and the government is trying to take it away from you is hand wringing nonsense in 2025.
- Why should mail be exempt from a court order? This appears to be updating previous legislation that required an act of fucking parliament to open someones mail. A court order will do fine, thanks.
- Giving 1 yr to declare refugee status after your arrival doesn't seem unreasonable
- Nothing in the text of the bill he quoted seems crazy either
- Why is deporting people whose asylum claims are rejected a bad thing? Isn't that how the system is supposed to function? Arriving at a border crossing and declaring asylum isn't supposed to be an entry to Canada forever under any circumstances card. We should be taking on refugees and asylum claims but we should have a process to vet them for legitimacy and potential threats to public safety and if those claims don't hold water, we should have a relatively streamlined process for removing the claimant, no?
- If it's unconstitutional, it will be challenged and overturned. We're actually pretty fucking good at this.
- You can't claim out of one side of your mouth that this bill is to appease the US, and then the other side of your mouth say that it's not about the economy.
