Not about what I like. It's simple logic. The way to not have a cap was to do what the MLB players did: make sure it never happens in the first place. Once you have a cap, it's game over. It's like herpes. It never goes away.

I only like the cap because I correctly predicted that it would punish the Leafs more than any other team.
 
Of course Mcleod "forgot" to mention in his original police interview that the victim had invited hin to ask his teammates to join in for a gang bang. Because she never said it. It was a lie that Mcleod (and/or his defense team) made up to impugn the character of the victim.

And I would ask his lawyer why, if his client was telling the truth, would he need to better "prepare" for his interview woth the cops. If hes telling the truth no preparation is needed. You just show up and tell the truth. Only liars "prepare".

All of these scumbags are guilty. They all deserve prison.

because the police will twist what you say, will sit there and tell you that you are guilty, but just tell us what happened so we know etc... many will admit to just about anything to get out of the pressure situation.

Those of us who know law know what they can do, and the police usually do not want a lawyer there because we know.

This case was only opened up again due to government pressure. The original cop didn't think there was enough to send the charge to the Crown for approval. She didn't want it brought up again either, but we all know the pressure the local crown was under.

At the very least, there is reasonable doubt on the criminal standard. If there is a guilty verdict based on the evidence before the Judge, it will be a miscarriage of justice.
 
They are all guilty and they all need to be punished to the full extent of the law. The reason this happened in the first place is because hockey players are taught from an early age that the normal rules of society dont apply to them so they can act any way they damn well please.

The judge will decide. I personally believe based on THE EVIDENCE, there is reasonable doubt. The judge might disagree (and will be wrong if she does).

I know you have predetermined guilt without caring about the evidence, but when you have the woman on tape saying, it was consensual AND not denying she called the guys who didn't want to fuck pussies, kind of hard not to say there was reasonable doubt on the criminal standard.

I am pretty sure, you being of my generation when consent was considered a tad differently, fucked chicks who likely were tipsy and who today would be said not to have been capable of consent. If not, you are basically the only frat boy in history not to have done so.

This was politically based. A decision was made 6 yrs ago not to charge then Trudeau and St Onge (along with the media) got involved. Boom a case where there was no reasonable likelihood of conviction ended up in the trial of the century.

The normal charge approval standard no longer mattered. Neither verdict would shock me but it does appear there is reasonable doubt on the criminal standard.
 
Bullshit. What got this case exposure was the revelation that Hockey Canada, an organization that took subsidies from the government (i.e. OUR money) to pay hush money. You dont pay hush money if you're not guilty and paying hush money is a tacit admission of guilt. They were guilty, they used taxpayer money and minor hockey registration money to help cover it all up and, as we also discovered, not for the first time.

Hockey Canada got off light. It should have been pulverized into non-existence. It has way too much power and it is inherently corrupt. Everyone involved in this crime and in its cover up deserves prison time.
