I saw where, during a debate, all the candidates were asked if one of their first official acts as mayor would be to visit Israel and he was the only one who didn't heed the obvious dog whistle. All the others used the question as an opportunity to pander for Jewish votes but he said that he wouldn't go anywhere because his job would be to engage with New Yorkers and tend to their needs, not fly halfway around the globe doing performance politics.

The police state behaviour I expected, but the overt, in-your-face racism and white nationalism while wearing a bodycam that’s recording is jaw-dropping.

The other thing that keeps popping into my head is that it’s a golden age for human trafficking down in the states. How many people are getting grabbed by these thugs on the streets—or by random people in masks impersonating ICE agents—and disappearing forever into the world of sexual trafficking?

many of the folks who use that phrase are quite explicit about the meaning they ascribe to it - worldwide violence against Jews, Jewish institutions, and Jewish life.

The bottom line is that questions about global geopolitical issues like Gaza have no place being asked of any candidate running for mayor of a city half a world away. The mayor of NYC has a lane to stay in and that lane doesn't include weighing in on things outside their purview. If I'm voting in a municipal election I couldn't give 2 wet farts what the candidates think about Gaza. I wouldn't ask the mayor to fix Gaza anymore than I would ask the Secretary General of the UN to fix the burned out streetlight in front of my house.

That debate question was a dogwhistle and only one candidate had the balls not to play the game.

You know what? Im not so sure about that. I think a lot, if not most of them, know. The problem is they simply don't care. They WANT people they don't like to be hurt, even if it's done unconstitutionally. They only care if and when if affects them personally. Otherwise they're fine with it.
 
Seems like the classic Corey Perry method.....in his prime, Perry did TONS of smallish infractions on the ice (little hacks/slashes, etc.,) knowing the officials wouldn't penalize him for all of them. It gave him an added edge (not that he really needed it then). Dotard seems to follow the same principle (only he's getting increasingly more bolder).
