There is no "sure talent" at the 9 in any draft, and this draft is wonkier than most imo.
Anyone we would reasonably take at the 9 has holes and limitations to their game
Maluach: zero offensive chops
Essengue: Can't shoot, skinny
Queen: Worst athlete in the 1st round, might not be able to defend in the NBA
Jakucionas: Average at best athlete for a lead guard. At best. Turnover prone
CMB: Can't shoot. Plays like a smallish, traditional 4.
Newell: Physical projection might not be there for the role he looks suited for, limited ceiling.
If you took out the top 2 picks (Flagg and Harper) this draft is a lot like last year's draft in that it's a grab bag of flawed, maybe good, maybe not prospects. Risacher's, and Talaun's. Ron Holland's, and Reed Sheppard's. Guys who if you squint a bit and they develop really well might be a good starter eventually. This lottery is really similar to that if you omit Flagg and Harper. It's really not a great draft tbh.

Would be typical of a smart org like Boston to acquire White when he was an undervalued asset, use him to win a championship, and then dump him when he gets older and more expensive.
