Mitch wanted out from the second that Pasta scored on the overtime goal in game 7 for Boston. He was going to sulk, and not allow the Leafs to get value for him.

The reason I got him wrong is because the why is always missing.

Why want to leave? If wanting to leave, why block trades? There’s no rational explanation.
 
Regular season team gets a bit worse without Marner, but it’s not the difference between winning the division and not making the playoffs.

Playoff team gets better. Pretty much anyone else getting 20+mins per game and all the powerplay time will outproduce Marner in elimination games. Kampf on PP1 and on Matthews’s wing probably does it. Addition by subtraction for the games that count IMO.
