I agree, try him on the first line barring a better aquistion via a trade.
 
Every season he's gotten a little heavier and a little stronger and he's learning the things he can and can't do in the NHL. Every season he's been asked to do a little more. This season, his new contract will make him a full-time NHLer and wherever he plays in the top 9 he has a good chance to be productive. He's not a finished product yet, but we may see him breakout later this season or next.

So basically they have $6.5m to add a forward if they just ditch Jarnkampf and go with a normal 22 man roster.

And of course they could add in other real salaries to a trade to get more space.

Even without Marner, I feel like this is the deepest team this core has had. Unlike every year, there are no straight up bad players cluttering up the roster like Reaves. Kampf and Jarn are eating up cap for nothing but they’re not bad, and they’re both going to be gone.

Now that they signed Robbie, I’m a little less confident about another big swing add, but the stage is still set for a McMann/carlo deal or something like that.
