The Official 2026 Off-Season Thread: Revenge of the Nerds

Is it customary to tell the people on the creative design team and the presentation/ops crew that they've signed bobrovsky before they are even allowed to talk to him and risk tampering charges? Seems a little silly to tell them and have them create that graphic at this point, no?
 
i've always kind of liked Ersson. He hasn't been good, but just ride with Stolarz - Hildeby and go Arty-Ersson with the Marlies.

With goaltender voodoo there's a non-zero chance he becomes useful.
 
I kinda assumed we wouldn’t be bothering to qualify Ersson. He was pretty much the worst goalie in the league last year and would have to be qualified at an amount that couldn’t fully be buried in the minors.

If someone wants to give us a draft pick for his rights, I’d take it.
 
I just realized I don't think I've ever even seen one in LA. So I checked.

There are 4 locations. Two in the bowels of seedy Hollywood, one downtown, and one by the airport. So telling that there isn't even one location in the middle of those basically three outer corners of LA.

Ersson is a bum, let him walk and go sign some weirdo random Euro free agent to play on the Marlies. The best goalie in the SHL right now is a 24 yr old undrafted Norwegian. Another top goalie there is a 21 yr old 5'11 guy. In Russia there's an unsigned Islanders draft pick who has been elite there for a few years (Gamzin).

These guys are also probably bums at this level, but the mystery box might be a boat. We know Ersson is a bum. He's never even been good in the AHL ffs.
 
I dont believe Bob will come cheap
I dont believe Chayka pays for a goalie ( especially a 36 year old one)
Even if you do get Bob cheapish and trade Stolarz i dont quite get this level of hoop jumping for this swap.

I think this is just moron talking heads who dont understand you can still be a competitive team without a name goalie. Or they dont know how waivers work.

Im calling horseshit on all of this mixed with some agent play, who needs to find a home for Bob
 
I think it's more about Chayka using the goaltending depth to address other positions, but I'm not sure about Officer Bobrovsky.
 
It could be because he has a vet whose health he can’t rely on and two untested kids behind him. If you’re serious about competing, that’s a very unstable situation. And if you can find a reasonable alternative for free who will provide more security back there, and trade Stolarz for more assets before another year of constant injuries makes him worthless and untradeable for the rest of his extension.
