2026 Draft

There’s one player above 6ft on Canes top-6 (Svechnikov) & 3 at/below 5’10 (Stankoven, Jarvis & Blake)
Hockey

Yeah…I wish you were a journalist asking this follow up when Martin Lapointe was talking about how “we all saw the importance of size during these playoffs”

It's important. Jordan Staal was a huge factor . . . and he's a huge man. The Habs, as a group, are too small. The Canes very big 4th line had us caved in the whole series.

Agreed but that wasn’t the root cause of being dominated vs Canes…. Every Habs line was at least a step behind their Canes matchup after game 1.

Habs pride themselves ppm playing fast, they were slow vs Canes

Sure, their 4th line dominated us. But so did lines 1,2 and 3.

The difference in skill was more pronounced than the difference in size.

But I'm happy to have a tougher 4th line. Those 10 mins/per game matter.

Need them to tire out the opponent.

The difference in skill is one thing, but the Canes were also just far better prepared and they just outworked us. After game one, every player on that team was 100% committed on every shift. Marty was severely outcoached too. Dobes was the biggest reason the score was close in a few games.

their overall talent level was higher too, especially upfront

Not sure where this goes..

Jake Boguniecki, Kane Barch, Broden McArthur, Sam Wathier, and Carter Meyer are all making the jump from the NTDP to CHL teams (as U17). The expectation is that they'll go from their first season of major junior to their NCAA commitments after their U18 season.

I wonder what this shows about the development trend in junior hockey and what it might indicate about the future of the USNTDP as it stands.
