Why do refs wait so long to call offside? Annoying shit

The instruction is to give the benefit of any doubt to keeping play moving, and the automated system will flag the offside if it happened.

Basically, they don't want assistant's making decisions that impact the outcome of a game, like calling an offside on a scoring chance that wasn't an offside.
