OT: American Politics

I've been back and forth on this one tbh.

But i think i'm fully onside with filibustering this bill.

Trump will hurt lots more people if the government is shut down but he was hurting a ton already, and this way at least the dems didn't consent in any way to it.

Gop will try to lay the blame on the dems and that's a huge risk but given that trump is already shutting down as much gov as possible, and given he'll do even worse when the gov is officially shut down, i doubt it sticks.

Schumer is rightly concerned that trump will do some irreversible damage if the gov is shut down, but thay's coming from a place where schumer has never appreciated the amount of irreversible damage that's already been done.

it's like Pelosi said - both choices are shitty. but if the Dems allow cloture, they are complicit in what happens next.

and, sadly, it seems like some folks need shit to get real ugly to start opposing.

It's annoying to see the Dems (accurately) tell everyone that Trump is not normal/is a dictator/authoritarian/going to damage democracy and so many of them act like they would for any other president - arguing that they have to maintain decorum, politeness, play by the rules, not be too loud.

Which one is it? If you're going to tell people he's dangerous and needs to be stopped you've got to be willing to do things out of the norm to fight it, otherwise everyone will just assume you're full of shit and vote him in again, like we saw.
