I use shafts of hockey sticks with broken blades as hanger poles in the closet where I keep hockey sweaters, my turkey vest, and heavy coats. So, they're not totally useless....just real limited in function.
A buddy uses them to hang his weed to dry. So, there's that too.

I'm lucky that my Dad is tech savvy and figured out a work around to get what broadcasts he's after. Meanwhile, I did not inherit the tech gene. I'm pretty much watching out of town feeds and their homer announcing crew. I absolutely refuse to listen to those butt nuggets in Boston. My...
I think gambling powers much of football's popularity, so unless you get a drop in wagering participants (yeah, right) they will help drive the industry. College football is definitely a farm system for the NFL and as hot as NFL is these days, it will be a while before things cools off. Until...
We told Spectrum to stuff it last year and went to T Mobile wireless. It has a few hiccups, but is superior to Spectrum, for a lot less $$. My wife called Spectrum to cancel the service and they started offering sweet deals (temporary, of course). They were saying how much we mattered to...
How about working on getting the refs to call penalties evenly from start to finish of the season? Wouldn't that be different & enjoyable? I'm a firm believer that what is a penalty in the first week of the season, should also be called mid-season, & in Game 7 of the Cup Finals. Adjusting the...
I remember hearing that Andrei Kovalenko used to fire up cigarettes between periods and immediately after games when he played here.
*semi-related trivia: Kovalenko scored the first ever goal for Carolina Hurricanes in the PNC Arena ( called Raleigh Entertainment and Sports Arena at the time)...
The clouds of cigarette smoke in the lobbies at Dorton between periods of Ice Caps games were so thick, you about had to cut it to walk through it. Places in Asia we sometimes travel to are a close rival for those days...except in Indonesia, they smoke clove cigagettes. Think about how...
I could probably obtain medical, (sometimes brain injuries are your friend...most times not...the 3 day migraines that nothing stops are a bitch), though what fun would that be? It grows free, but that would be a stupid thing to go to jail over. I was thinking more in terms of the legislature...
I'm still baffled by the Coghlin signing. I didn't think he was all that. In my view, he played more like a liability than a beneficial cog to the system. I more or less expected him to be gone & somebody else's problem after the end of last season. Still don't understand the why part of the...
Seeing as how he's a Flyers prospect, maybe the Hurricanes would want to trade Kochetkov for him...& throw in Jarvis just to sweeten the pot? Right?
Sorry, I've got a Flyers Buzz on right now and can't seem to think clearly.

There must be something in the water in Philly to make anyone come up with this garbage.
To clarify, I'm not familiar with all the Phlyers players this guy is offering up, but given Philly's...
Pittsburgh taking one more swing at the pinata while Sid is still functional and Malkin has a few cylinders left. Hope that works to a degree. Can't say that Dubas holds back, even though he definitely likes to trade those high draft picks.

My issue with ESPN is they started making their broadcasts about themselves and not as much about the games.
My all time favorite ESPN moment is Charley Steiner absolutely losing it when Carl Lewis tried to sing the National Anthem. Absolutely priceless.

Um, which ones haven't been riuned so far?
College football & hoops are worthy if the announcing team has their mess together, as the matchup usually doesn't require much announcing help in the first place. NFL (what I watch of it) seems decent, though much of the old guard has already been...
Ice water is all we brought along yesterday.
Back in the day, I'd be right there with you.
A buddy of mine's family had a place on Grassy Creek on Kerr Lake. We used to go up a few days early to get everything ready for when his family got there and to find where the fish were biting...
