2019-Whenever Misc. Grab Bag Thread

I went in 2003, and caught a Leafs-Habs game, on a business trip, but today was the first time for my family... just left there after 7 hours lol..
When my daughter played in a women’s tournament in Brampton, we went there, it was probably 2007, it was the first year the Canes were on the Cup. I haven’t been back since but my wife wants to go. Maybe next summer.

Monte Kiffin, head coach at NC State in the early 80's passed away today

He was 84.
Kiffin was the coach at State for most of my high school years. He was a character ... which is code for completely bonkers. Terrible head coach too, despite his standout career as a defensive mind. He loved the surprise onside kick, despite the fact that it almost never worked and generally worked against him, and generally had a weird thing with bucking the odds with his playcalling. We threw deep a lot on 3 and short, went for basically every 4th down in plus territory and generally asked the D to hold the fort when everything went sideways. It was never boring, and rarely effective. The whole obsession with dressing up like Lone Ranger was a ... choice.

RIP, Monte.
You're lucky JB. He was HC my first three years at State. Then one year of the General. At least Kiffin was not a bore!
The highlight of my 4 years was watching a killer sunset at a Maryland game passing around a few big joints.

Sheridan landed at State for my first senior season, so at least I got one decent season of football in my 5 years. Of course, I was there for 1983, which sort of makes the rest of it irrelevant. And we were good at baseball for my stretch.

Very belated post to commemorate my trip to Vegas over Memorial Day to see Dead & Company at The Sphere with my two sons and my future daughter-in-law. The venue itself is remarkable, and the band utilized the technology to its fullest to provide an amazing experience for Deadheads of all ages. Pictured below are the shirts I wore for my two nights of concerts. I was surprised by how much conversation was started by the Canes shirt, despite the fact that we had already gotten bounced at that point. I bought the shirt on the right at Shakedown - IYKYK

One of my all time favorite moments in sports was the meltdown he had in one game when State fumbled the snap.

On three successive plays.
Tol Avery ... poor guy. They fumbled three QB exchanges against South Carolina IIRC. A brutal, brutal day.

Good day to be a sports fan if you speak Spanish. The young Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz takes out Djokovic in straight sets to win the Wimbledon championship, then Spain wins Euro 24, and later on tonight a Spanish speaking country will win tonight's Copa America championship.

And Sergio Garcia won the Bloodwashing Golf Tour event held in Spain.

It was also a good day to be Scottish. Oban boy Bob MacIntyre won the Scottish Open in North Berwick (first Scot to with the national open in 25 years) AND England lost in the Euro final.
