Yeah, I don't think that one’s true, although it was a persistent thing when Orbison was still alive. Maybe it was because he died his hair that blacker than black color. There were also rumors that he was blind or nearly blind and that wasn’t true either. He just wore thick lenses because that’s what they used to provide when you were very near-sighted and he preferred tinted lenses because of bright stage lighting to the point where it became a “look"

Going through a bin of old sports cards from the junk wax era. I collected from 89-94. I have a ton of 1991 Upper Deck hockey. Boy was that a loaded year. Rookies of Dominik Hasek, Teemu Selanne, Nicklas Lidstrom, Peter Forsberg, Pavel Bure, Sergei Fedorov, etc. Those were the cleanest, best looking cards of that era too. Pro Set, Score and Donruss looked terrible in comparison.
 
Marc Lasry from Avenue Sports Fund has jumped into the MLB to Raleigh fray and is willing to partner with Dundon. The around already holds a stake in the NC Courage and Lasry owned a stake in the Milwaukee Bucks, that he sold in 2023. The Fund also has investments in the Baltimore Orioles, a NASCAR team and newly promoted English Premier League Club Ipswich Town.

Major sports investor wants to bring MLB to Raleigh. Is it competition or collaboration with Dundon?

Marc Lasry’s Avenue Sports Fund is already invested in the NC Courage. He now wants to invest in big-league baseball in Raleigh, telling WRAL he’s willing to partner with Carolina Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon, who also has MLB ambitions.

We just had a non-hockey-related flight SNAFU. The flight we had booked to Egypt got cancelled, as in they say that they're not going and they said it couldn't be re-booked a day earlier or later...even this far out. Further examination reveals that if we extend our return by two additional days, the exact same flight will only cost us $600 more. The airline decided that they weren't going to make as much on us (even though we booked months ago), so they needed to cancel the low paying fares off the flight so they could squeeze us for more. Somehow, magically, there happened to be two seats available. I'm happy to still be going and I don't mind spending a couple extra days. I do mind being jerked around. I just hope nobody starts a war with Egypt until then to jack prices up even more. It turns out that foreign airlines might be more shady than NHL Refs.

The SEC sends 5 teams (Texas, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Alabama and Georgia) to the College World Series.

That is one more than the record set by the ACC in 2006 and 2024 and the SEC 6 times between 1997 and 2024). They are also guaranteed to have one team in the finals since one bracket contains Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma and Texas.
 
I’m always a hockey-first guy, but this NBA Finals series is giving the Stanley Cup Finals a run for its money in terms of exciting games.
 
In addition to really exciting NBA and NHL finals, I read something about some other small scale insignificant international tournament starting up tomorrow as well?

Yet the comments section in The Athletic and social media will be riddled with clowns saying “all these series and tournaments are unwatchable “. Or “these teams suck” or “worst Finals ever”!!! 🤡

I saw part of the first half last night and turned it off. Checked the score later and saw the Knicks were down 1 with under 2 minutes to go and turned it back on.

I don't generally follow soccer, so I will only be paying attention with passing interest. But for many, adding the start of the World Cup to what has been a really compelling week for the NBA and NHL.... best sports week ever?
