Look, I appreciate Uncle Lou but other than getting NYI back to relevancy rather quickly, his late career body of work is not great.

Interesting how a series can turn by a hair or a fraction...the Caps missed a breakaway late and an open net by an inch or two that would have likely sealed that win and a 3-1 lead in the series...they instead a minute later give up the tying goal and then lose it in overtime and now Florida has all the momentum at 2-2 heading back home.

Also they FL is heading back home at 2-2 as are the Canes but it feels so different from our perspective.

I think that’s more of a fan than a team perception. Betting they’d have liked to win 1 or 2 in Boston but are no where near the sky is falling like the fan base.

We’re 2-2 heading back home.

Canes legend Patrick Marleau announced his retirement on The Player’s Tribune. As Luke tweeted, it’s going to be a stirring day when they raise the banner honoring his cap hit to the rafters at PNC.

As a reminder, we drafted Seth Jarvis and Alexander Pashin with the picks we received from Toronto. And the knowledge that we had that first rounder probably played into Waddell’s thinking when he traded our other first rounder to the Rangers for Skjei.

That was an excellent use of Dundon's money and some of our cap space.

Lou Lamoriello is getting beaten up now over firing Trotz, but he is also responsible for Patrick Marleau's 3 year $6.25 million AAV contract that the Leafs were willing to give a 1st round pick to have someone take off their hands. Lou's blunder was the Canes gain.

Hopefully we get to watch Jarvis potting 30+ goals every year while Leafs fans are reminded of how exactly Jarvis ended up being drafted by us. The actual cash cost was only $3.833 million to the Canes. $3.8 million for the pick that became Seth Jarvis.

Yeah, that honestly couldn't have worked out better for Carolina. For Toronto, not so much. They got even more of their usual playoff frustration. I mean, at least they tried something ...

Oilers dman Darnell Nurse has a hearing for head butting Phillip Danault last night. There was no penalty called.

Wow, that is going to be an interesting decision for player safety.

You don't see that happen very often, but that sure as heck looked intentional. Nurse I suspect will claim he was off balance and that was an accident.

I don't see how that cannot be at least 1 game, that is every bit as dangerous as picking the head when delivering a body check or elbowing someone in the head. Maybe worse.

I don’t think they’d have a hearing if he was just going to be fined. He’s going to be suspended for at least 1, and, with the Kings up 3-2, it could cost the Oilers.

Oh, that's absolutely a suspension-worthy act. You can plead whatever you want dude, but you collected your self and then launched your head into another player's head. Have fun watching the next couple.

Probably only 1, based on the 2 regular season suspensions for head butting. Pavel Buchnevich and Chris Wideman were each suspended for 2 games and we know suspensions in the playoffs are treated differently. Nurse isn’t considered a repeat offender either.
