Paul finished the game but Kucherov didn’t. He took a cross check from Toews with about 6:30 left and fell awkwardly. He stayed on the ice for the first 17 seconds of the power play and didn’t return.

Hmmm. So the broadcasters couldn’t stop with how Tampa has never seen such a good team and how Tampa “isn’t a bad team” and how “Colorado is just better than them” and “Tampa is panicking” and now this. Maybe that’s all true. Who knows. It’s not a series until someone loses at home.
I keep telling you guys not to listen to the announcers ... it's Moronville out there.

The Kraken hired Dan Bylsma to coach the Coachella Valley Firebirds, their new AHL team. He was on the staff in Charlotte as the Kraken split the affiliation with the Panthers. He’s only the 2nd coach who has returned to the AHL after winning the Jack Adams.

I always felt like Bylsma would get another NHL shot eventually, but he's still working his way back I guess. Dude's only 51, so he's still got time.

It’s just funny how they go to the extreme off whatever way the wind is blowing.
Honestly the only broadcasters who don't do that are baseball guys, and that's only because there are so bloody many games. I guess tuning them out is a learned skill and I'll acknowledge getting ahead start growing up listening to ACC hoops broadcasts in the 70s. But people are routinely complaining online about some broadcaster saying this that or other thing, and having watched the exact same broadcast ... I noticed none of it. And how any of you still can manage to listen to intermission "analysis" is beyond me. May as well go ask the dog what he thought about the first period.

Yup. Record it. Start an hour late. Skip the commercials and intermission and the game takes less than 2 hours to watch.

Cooper says that Kucherov should be OK for tomorrow but Point is highly doubtful.
So much of Point's game is generated from his skating, and he's been a shell of his usual self ever since he came back. Shame too. That guy is a good chunk of their offense.

Shockingly, Igor Shesterkin wins the Vezina in a runaway, collecting 29 of the 32 first place votes. The other first place votes went to Freddie Andersen, Andrei Vasilevskiy and Ilya Sorokin, who finished 4 - 6. Markstrom and Saros we‘re 2nd and 3rd, neither got a first place vote.

Moritz Seider wins the Calder, Zegras was 2nd, Bunting was 3rd. Seth Jarvis was 13th. Ned got 1 fifth place vote and finished tied for 14th (last) with Caps dman Martin Feher ary.

Shesterkin deserved that trophy, but Sorokin got completely over-looked IMO ... mostly by people who think Wins are a goalie stat, one assumes. He was ridiculously good all season on the Island, and it's not his fault that the team in front of him failed to show.

Holy crap!

Dreger tweeted that Brunette is out in Florida and will be replaced by

wait for it

Paul Maurice

Seravalli says Brunette will be offered a “significant role” in the organization.

Yuck!!! MO goes from the KHL in Siberia a few years ago to the beach in Florida with a stacked team...talk about the outhouse to the penthouse!

Meh. Don't like the move. Quenneville had them buzzing. Brunette tried to hold on but Mo? I don't like the style fit.
Yeah, it’s a really bad fit. The Panthers were 12th in goals against. Is there room for improvement? Sure, they were about 0.5 goals per game worse than the Canes. But they led the league in goals, the only team in the league that averaged more than 4 goals per game. The Canes led the league in fewest shots against per game but the Panthers only allowed 2.5 more per game, it’s not like Bob was getting bombarded nightly.

I thought MO kinda quit on the Jets and needed time away from coaching...maybe he just quit because he knew it was a crappy team/roster at the time!
